With the ps3 and 360 having pricecuts and the ps3 more so than most. Compare the current new prices of each console and what you get for the price. Is the Wii hardware still worth the $250? Shouldit get a pricecut? maybe down to $180-$200.

Gamecube is like $120? Wii-mote is like $60? Do the math. :PZanuffC
I'm sure Microsoft and Sony want to sell their consoles at a loss.

and the Wii is not the Gamecube hardware... I think this comes from Nintendo saying the Wii uses the gamecube architecture.. or whatnot.. bleh, ah well. Fanboys will be fanboys :)
As long as it sells out at 250, it will continue to sell at 250. Nintendo is'nt stupid.

I really think they should cut to $200, but you're right , Sony cut the price because he wasn't sale the console very well, and if Nintendo keep the good sales, i don't see a price cut very soon.
With the new price of the PS3, a BLU-RAY player, an HDMI Output, a Hard Drive, and a CPU, GPU, andRamthat totally destroyes the WII... No, the Wii is not worth $250.
When comparingall the feature and power of the console vs what the 360 and PS3 has to offer, the Wii should cost way below $150, and that is still with taking into consideration shipment costs and employees salary in the factories.
yeah i think a price cut right before christmas would be a smart move for Wii to keep it ahead of the 360 and the PS3.
$275 360 vs a $250 Wii might give 360 the lead in console sales going in to next year.
for only $25 more you get a truely next gen console with HD and you get HDMI and HD AV componets, get the wireless controller instead of the wired one, 256MB memory card which is more than you need just for a casual gamer who just needs enough space to save games + a little extra, and it comes with 5 free XBL arcade games. i know you get a ethernet cable too but dont know if you get a head set.
way better deal than wii and wii sports.

Its not the same, but the fact that it is still the same architecture as the 2001 Gamecube, upgrading it a bit for a 2006 console really doesn't cost a lot of money when it comes to research and development. As for producing it, since its close to a gamecube, the price stays nearly the same. The only thing that would justified it being more expensive than a gamecube is the Wiimote, and the software development. Still, $250 is way overpriced.

Nintendo would probably sell out their Wii stocks if the console was $299. There is a large amount of demand for all things Wii right now.
People are not buying the Wii for the hardware - they're buying it intangible reasons.
The Wii is a great value for $250.
People who are saying it should be $150 or less are fools. The PS2 still costs $130. Are you trying to tell me it's not worth any more than the PS2? Please.
The market speaks for its self. MS cut the price and released the best selling game 360 will ever have and it only managed to sell a little more than Wii that month.
Obviously its worth what it is selling for.
hardware wise its not worth that much. but ppl r willing to pay for it so theres no way nintendo will lower its price.
I have only one question for the people who say the Wii is a rip-off or the hardware in it isn't worth $250. Have you ever spent the money to to R&D on a new console or devoloped a new console?dotWithShoes
It would be a rip off if the other consoles also provided the exact same experience as the Wii can provide in terms of motion, but they don't. The Wii is offering a completely different experience than the other two and people are buying it for that reason, not for graphics.
The Wii isn't even worth $179.99; I personally think the price that best suits it is around $119.99 or $139.99Stevo_the_gamer
Agree.
Well it will probably continue to sell at $250, but no, I really think that even with it's motion sensor technology it's really worth $250. Maybe $200 at most, but at $250 for last gen graphics and oversimplified games, I don't think it's worth it. We'll have to wait and see exactly how the new 360 arcade and 40 gig ps3 sell and affect wii sales before we can speculate as to an actual price drop though.
