Now that Next-Gen has begun, where does that leave Wii U?

As we all know, the Wii U is underpowered and completely outclassed by PS4 and Xbox One.

Should Nintendo cancel the Wii U and go third party?

Or should they just give up on gaming all together?

Can the Wii U survive without third party support?

What exactly makes the Wii U next-gen??

Next gen in the same way that the 3ds is current gen.

It was released in the next generation of consoles, which makes it next generation.

Its hardware is a step up from previous generation consoles, which makes it next generation.

It has features that previous generation consoles did not, which makes it next generation.

The most argument anyone could make would be that it's not 'as next gen as the PS4 and Xbox One' (whatever the **** that even means), but the Wii U is a part of this generation, through and through, and it does more than enough to differentiate itself from the previous generation.

Quit using terms you don't understand. Next gen is determined by the time of release - not the tech. That how it is. Deal with it.

It's such a strange price point when you consider the Xbox 360 and PS3 are under £200 with games, and then there's the PS4 at £349.99 and the Xbox One with a game at £429.99

They should be selling that Mario Mega Bundle at £199.99 to compete with the 360/PS3. At £299.99 it's far too close to it's newer, faster, and flashier competitors to be considered good value.

You know what you can do on the Wii-U? Play games with great gameplay.

As much as everyone here ditch the Wii U, I have a feeling that it will come out 2nd place in sales:

1st PS4

2nd Wii U

3rd XBox One

I don't know why I put XBox One on 3rd behind Wii U;

It's just my prediction, but I think I'm not alone on this prediction.

I think the price makes a big difference considering this kind of economy.

I've been playing video games for 30 years. I've owned a lot of systems over the years Intellavision atari sega turbografx neo geo nintendo sony but I gotta say I F-n hate microsoft with a passion. They are one company I would like to see leave the console race. Hopefully nintendo can pull out of the slump with the WiiU when more games come out for it.

which used to free or included in a big expansion. Those days are gone and it's all about milking.

Just look at Forza & Gran Turismo. It is slowly becoming a pay to win model of gaming.

As an a example, a popular family game for this holiday season is Disney Infinity and today Walmart was having a pre-Black Friday sale on it selling the starter pack for $37 from $75. The first Walmart I went to (yes, I'm getting this for my 6 year old) only had WiiU and 3DS versions in stock. The second Walmart I went too had all systems but I grabbed the last PS3 version.

I looked at the systems while I was there and there was 1 PS3 left, a few 360's and tons of WiiUs. No, no PS4s or X1s were available.

Still stuck in the middle like a stop-gap system.

$100 more gets you a significantly more powerful console backed by sony's strong 1st software, marquee 3rd party publishers and indie developers. Meanwhile, $100 less gets you your choice of two consoles with huge libraries and better 3rd party support than Wii-Us' for the foreseeable future.

It leaves the WiiU as the system that keeps you from going to sleep at night because of how much you love it.

I've seen nothing to suggest the WiiU has worse hardware than the Xbox One.

And if "next gen" is determined by hardware then all of the consoles are "last gen" with the possible exception of the PS4 which is "this gen" in terms of computing power.

Face it

Someone has to have the weakest console, this gen the WiiU and Xbox One are at the bottom, that doesn't make them not worthy products if they have the exclusives to back it up.

For all this talk about 'next-gen', you at least think 1080p and 60fps would be standard. But nope.

And that's something the Wii U has no problem handling.

nintendo can always make money as long as they make great games. Processing power is valuable to consumers but so is gameplay.

Wii type success is off the table however. Imo that success is off the table for any of these next gen consoles
