I agree I'm loving destiny the single player is amazing I really don't know what gamespot are smoking.
Apparently Divinity: Original Sin was amazing. I didn't play it, though. I guess... Dark Souls 2? I forgot it was released this year.It won't be Watch Dogs or Destiny.
divinity and blue colored bastion (cant remember name sorry) looks like good but i couldnt play them. I enjoyed wolfenstein but it would be a sad year if that stays as the best game for me

Going just by stuff that has released already (sorry Smash 3DS), I'd say it's between Mario Kart, Divinity, Dark Souls II (I guess?), and of course, Velocity 2X.
No way KArt and Dark souls 2 to be GOTY. They are "rehashes" and one of the same experience of older titles. Nothing to GOTY about imho. I cant find a single reason why those 2 might be GOTY. Maybe candidates but definitly not winners. Divinity was something " new " that might have a chance along with Velocity 2x. We will see. We got 2 months of releases ahead.
South Park is the only game I've played through this year, I mean I think it is a forgettable experience and the game part wasn't all that fun, but it is the only game I've enjoyed enough to complete.
A few games to come yet like Wasteland 2 and Civ: Beyond Earth, unfortunately just like Divinity: Original Sin GS will never give a complicated game such as those GOTY. It'll go to something main stream and simple, wouldn't be surprised if it does go to Destiny after all review scores aren't taken into account when they vote.
Divinity Original Sin is my personal GOTY so far. As for Gamespot GOTY, I think the game being a PC exclusive and comprising minimal hand holding will hurt its chances of winning. We shall see.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze really deserves it, but I know it won't be considered despite it perfecting the platforming genre and being painstakingly crafted down to every single detail. An exceptional piece of craftsmanship to be sure.
Divinity sounds like it has a good chance. Bayonetta 2 and Smash might have a chance as well.

The main fight will likely be between Dark Souls II and Divinity: Original Sin. Their only complaints about the two games, respectively, are "flat lighting" and "cumbersome interface and first few hours drag".
I honestly think (despite not having played it) Divinity: Original Sin would be an excellent choice for GOTY. It showcases precisely what the future of gaming shouldbecome. The consumer should be able to dictate to developers what kind of games they want made, rather than being forced to buy over-hyped, over-priced mediocrity in a shiny package. Divinity OS's success illustrates a paradigm shift that will, hopefully, become the norm for gaming in the next 5-10 years.
Alien: Isolation could turn out amazing as well, but it's hard to say at this point.
As of now I would give it to Divinity, or Mario Kart 8. But in the comming months we do hav Bayonetta 2, Alien Isolation, Civ: Beyond earth and Wasteland 2 that might be viable candidates.
@SolidGame_basic: To me destiny is a good game, it's fun to play, but as you said, clearly not GOTY winner. I just can't understand the hate it's been getting, its not a perfect game but it is not an abysmal game either. As for who the GOTY goes, I don't know. Im really loving titanfall on the X1 but it isn't goty either, the only game Id go for is TLOU Remastered.
its funny though because destiny hardly has any story what so ever. a little floating thing comes over to your supposed dead corpse which you never actually sees. shoots a beam of light at you ressurecting you and says, OH HEAY DO MY BIDDING, so you run through a few missions and beat the game. its short, its boring, there really hardly is any content, and worse of all? multi player is a broken feckin mess.
