Nintendo Switch Service Announcement!

Hey there dudes! So a quick thing I saw elsewhere (the usual spot) that I think is important to share:

YOU CAN SET UP YOUR SWITCH ID RIGHT NOW!

Some pointers:

• Needs to be 6 characters long (at least)
• It's the tab that says USER ID (or the equivalent in your language) as shown in the pics
• This is happening because Nintendo is now moving towards a new account based system rather than the Nintendo Netword ID (NNI) system (used for 3DS+WiiU)
• This USER ID is the equivalent of that (NNI) for the new platform(s), in this case the Switch
• Grab what you want quick (limited to 1 per account, at least right now)!

So head right on to accounts.nintendo.com and do what you must! :P Already took care of mine too.

I set mine up too. Some mother fucker already took BassMan (no respect), so I added a period to the end of it.

@BassMan: It let you add the period? Huh.

Yup. It doesn't let you use caps though.

@BassMan: Yeah, that I noticed. Kinda surprised it lets users have periods in there. That's not usually the case is it?

Anyway, at least you managed to grab your name without "12192374610347302846103" at the start/end :P

@Desmonic: Yeah, some services are very picky about what kind of special characters can be used.

so you can't use the same old Nintendo Id for this thing?

@Kruiz_Bathory: Nope. You can use the same name, yes (I mean, if it's still available), but the NNI won't come to the Switch, hence the new USER ID option (you'll know you havent' set it up yet if it shows up empty when you do your login).

@Desmonic: I keep resending the email for the verification code and it doesn't work :/

Besides, I think this is very weird from Nintendo...wait, no it's Nintendo of course they'll do something dumb.

I can never think of a good username so meh. Hope you can change it in the future.

@Kruiz_Bathory: Verification code? To login? If so, check the spam/trash folders. Sometimes these things end up there for no reason.

Typical hopeless Nintendo! I have tried registering several times in a row, yet it keeps failing to send me a verification code to my email! If Nintendo can't even succeed in sending a freaking email, how on EARTH are they supposed to compete with Sony and Microsoft? And they expect people to pay a subscription fee for this sorry excuse for an online service which can't even perform a simple function that was invented several decades ago? Well, looks like the Switch is going to fail big time. Nintendo doesn't even know how to send an email... good luck in becoming successful in the online gaming arena.

I just received a new email, and felt excited in thinking it was the Nintendo verification code. But instead it was a notification from Gamespot telling me you replied to my post, ROFL. Oh well, I guess I will try again tomorrow. Maybe Nintendo's servers are busy :P

Yeah, could be just heavy traffic, or you could be right and Nintendo just fucking blows at these things lol. As far as I'm concerned the only things they do well is design good games and make sturdy hardware.

See, I already had a Nintendo account so all I had to do was login and type in my User ID :P No idea if their account creating process is flooded these days, could be given the hype around Switch.

Yeah, I can't change my password either, they refuse to send me my verification code. I've been using their "24-hour" password for ages with the Wii U although it should stop working after a day :P

Quite happy I know my 2 usernames won't be taken. Dibdibdobdobo and Dobzilian...

@dakur: Isn't it clear enough in the OP? Basically, if you have or create a Nintendo account right now you can already set up your Switch (and presumably future Nintendo platforms) User ID, which is different than the Nintendo Netword ID (which was they used for the WiiU+3DS).

Oh ok thanks, I was missing some context, I thought for a minute it was a service similar to xbox live on PC. A man can dream.

You might already know, but a dude named Daigo is one of the most legendary Street Fighter players of all time. Like at this point the legend is way bigger than the man himself. So of course he gets on Street Fighter V to create an account and every reasonable variant has been taken.

lol yeah that actually did happen at first. People figured it out quickly though, since there's only like 1, maybe 2 other people in the world who play Ryu as well as he does.

I haven't really looked into the Kolin news tbh. Seems like a cool character from what little I've seen. But ever since Nioh came out I haven't been paying SFV any attention. Can't wait to get back to it though!

I'll definitely give Kolin a fair try, but I'm committed to Dhalsim at this point. Way too many hours invested with him to switch up now. Plus I just love how technical he is.

@ConanTheStoner: Add me to PSN for a game one of the days for game, I'm useless but friends are varied in ranks (platinum, gold) while I haven't played much of rank as Gief wasn't too good in season 1.

Im hoping for more grappling characters as like gief, birdie, Alex, mika.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we see more grapplers this season. Capcom seems to be grapple happy with this game. Kinda like how they were full on Shoto happy with the SF4 games lol.

I'm usually playing on Steam, but I'll PM you the two CFN ID's that I'm usually on. Probably be another week or two before I get back to it though, Nioh is a time consumer.

I always have trouble thinking of a good username :/ haha but i think I've got one. hmmmmm.

Hmm being unable to use caps made it a bit harder. But I think I got one that is OK and easy to type. Are people going to see that name online or is it just to log in with? (Like Steam.)
