Market Expectations for Q1 were as followed:

EARNINGS FORECAST: Net loss of ¥125 million is the consensus of four analysts surveyed by Nikkei, compared with a year-earlier loss of ¥9.9 billion.

REVENUE FORECAST: Revenue of ¥89.17 billion is the market forecast, compared with ¥74.7 billion a year earlier.

Net Sales: ¥90.233 billion yen

Operating Income: ¥1.149 billion yen

Net Income: ¥8.284 billion yen

Hardware & Software Q1 Results:

3DS HW: 1.01 million

Wii U HW: .47 million

3DS SW: 7.92 million

Wii U SW: 4.55 million

Nintendo FY15 Guidance:

Net Sales: ¥570 billion yen

Operating Income: ¥50 billion yen

They wouldn't be as profitable, they'd lose out on their hardware revenue stream, as well as licensing revenue streams.

Because you know Nintendo's business and revenue streams so well. With their own hardware they don't need to pay all the fees associated with putting their games on other consoles. Heck, any money you think they would save would all be sucked dry by the other console companies.

You are not thinking clearly. Everyone loves nintendo games. It's just that no one wants to have to buy a nintendo console to play them.

You don't have to know it well. They are a software publisher, first and foremost. They sell much more software than hardware, by a lot.

If they scroo it up with NX they will go 3rd party though i strongly beleive NX will be an hybrid of console/handheld or something similar and it might get some attention.

You have a point there ... I personally refuse to pay for this piece of junk , Wii U that is , for 2-3 games i was/am interested in so im renting the system with the game i want or we doing friend meetings and we playing the games with friends etc.

I wouldnt mind to pay for games like Zelda or Bayonetta ... but i wouldnt buy a system for 2-3 games only , then become a dust collector, waste of money and .. space.

Then its good that Nintendo doesn't cater to you. You and your casual 2 games wouldn't keep Nintendo afloat as a 3rd party publisher. Me and my 47 Wii U games do. If Nintendo went 3rd party and had to depend on your casual game purchases, they would need to average 20-30 million units selling like Rockstar.

You DO actually have to put some thought on this besides just blurting out a thinly veiled wishfull thought and moving on.

Nintendo as we know it operates within the dynamics that go with owning and operating their own hardware and software. So saying they should shave off a massive component that drives most of their business decisions, suddenly depend on other console makers and expecting their output to not be affected is, well.... quite stupid to say the least.

Games like Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Fatal Frame V, SMT X FE, etc would have NO real reason to exist if the need to diversify their libraries in order to lure in people into a more appealing ecosystem, wasnt there.

Low to modest selling IPs like Fire Emblem was until Awakening came out, or even Xenoblade, would never go past the planning stages when a Mario Kart or a Smash game can sell more than both of those combined, three times over. This would mean that the company would suddenly find itself unable to sustain the workforce and talent that fuels both the big and small games, and along with the sudden irrelevancy of most of the R&D department (that also has input on games btw) would lead to massive layoffs, gutting the company from the inside and leaving behind only the necessary talent to sustain the profitable projects.

If this sounds appealing to you or something Iwata or its successor imagines as the future for Nintendo, then I honestly dont know what to say.

Thank you. It makes me laugh that gamers think they can tell big corporations how to be profitable. Nintendo has lived through many major shifts in the gaming landscape. Their methods are tried and true and even led to the Wii selling over 100 million units.

People laugh at Nintendo thinking they don't know what they are doing. They laughed at Amiibos. They laughed at Splatoon. Well keep laughing because they are still alive and well and profitable. The playstation and the xbox one could never sustain a Wii U like failure. But who can, yup the big N.

Tiny sales for the wii u, but considering how cheap the tech is and how expensive they are selling it, they still make a profit. Not good for the fans because the tech is so shit and over priced but people still celebrate a corporation cheating them.

And what happens after that? Nintendo has to be funding the advertising, distribution, and promotion. It would be too much to risk when they are also losing money to licensing fees and developing for multiple consoles. Not to mention people would expect sale prices 2 months after launch like every other 3rd party publisher while as a first party publisher they determine the value of their product. It just makes no sense. Look where they are now. Still making profits even in this situation. This whole argument is pointless because they're still making cash.

So you are okay with nintendo being reduced to a smaller, less diverse dev house, because you happen to only care about franchises you assume would survive the third party transition.

Tell me how this benefits anyone (Nintendo included) other than you and your desire to play 3 or 4 specific Nintendo titles on your favourite game box, that you assume would be safe from the culling?

What do you mean what happens after that ? I dont get you . What every other successful publisher and developer does to keep profits up. Also the consoles now are waaaay more friendly architecture wise that makes ports for one system to the other ..a piece of cake. Its for a reason why myriads of developers praised the choice of hardware this generation. And i dont see that change anytime soon. So i dont agree developing for multiple consoles is a real costly issue.

If people wait 2 months or not ... doesnt affect many AAA caliber developers ... why someone like Nintendo to be affected by this ... We talking about one of the most talented developer around with some of the biggest and more established franchises in gaming history here , not just a random company .. theres a difference imho there. Its pretty impressive how good they do under this situation indeed. But when 3DS will start to lagging further .. then what ? You know that NX is the last hope for Nintendo ( consoles wise ) more likely right ? Thats what i think , i hope im wrong ( or not , since i would love to play Nintendo games on the systems i really like , even if i like just few of them )

Yeah, all that money they got from the 6 retail games on the WiiU so far this year!

Mario Kart 8 is still selling very well.Splatoon is selling very well and it will definetely be over 2 million and maybe over 2.5 million by the end of the year. It's good to hear that the WiiU finally broke 10 million, but it's still not selling that well.
