Nintendo live up to their promise? (core Gamer)

2 Years in and Nintendo made a big promise just before this new generation started of "were going for the core gamer and not casuauls like Wii" which to me still thinks theyre still lacking in several departments when it comes to different genres of games but slowly working upon it with some great looking games in 2015 like Pokken, X and Splatoon which are 3 games in different genre's which nintendo dont have many IPs in.

So have in your opinion have Nintendo lived up to their promise of going for Gamers like yourself.

Nintendo funded and published the only AAAAE this generation, Bayonetta 2. Even included Bayonetta 1 for certain territories. Then factor in tough challenges like DKCTF and Hero mode on WWHD and I'm inclined to agree. Nintendo has some of the tougher challenges in gaming today.

Better than Sony or MS have.

Coming off the worse console of all time: The Wii. IMO. They have been trying for the core gamer and are doing an O.K job. The name of the fucker is the worse part. Who wants to buy something called " Wii U"? Who named this Gamecube of a system? Seriously.

It's funny how some people link hardcore to playing games that are about violence, nudity and swearing. And that's literally the stuff Nintendo went after with Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third.

They couldn't have been more transparent about it.

Wii Fit U is the most hardcore game of all time. If you don't believe me, just think about the name, and what it means. Think about it.

Ofcourse they have... Infact the promise is moot since they've been releasing Hardcore Games consistently, including on the Wii.

Yeah I don't like that mentality either... I'm sure Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker is going to be way more Hardcore. Its always funny when somebody brags about Dark Souls and then is Stymied by a Puzzle Halfway through Portal.

Yeah, Souls games are for noobs. Nothing hard or interesting about trial and error.

No, Nintendo themselves have never really "Left" the Core market. Just look at the games, It tells you a different story if you think otherwise.

HOWEVER THOSE PROMISES THEY MADE AT THOSE E3s LONG AGO HAVE BEEN UNFULFILLED.

1. We still don't have a Ghost Recon game.
2. EA has pulled the plug on anything Nintendo related.
3. 3rd Party games are almost nonexistent on the hardware.
4. There are huge gaping holes in Game Genres that need to be filled in the WiiU's library.
5. TVii sucks and the app doesn't seem to work right most of the time (and poor Europe thinks they're missing something special).

In short, Nintendo shot themselves in the foot with the WiiU (shocking I know, lets beat the dead horse some more). But That's not stopping them from being Nintendo and pumping out Amazing games that have been proven to be some of the industry's best.

Unfortunately, EA, like Ubisoft and Activision are among the defining powers of the industry as much as we hate them (I'm still not buying their newer products even IF they do go back to Nintendo).

No.... don't get me wrong, I love their games.

But for the core gamer you need all the important multiplats... and good online services and features to match.

I don't see why they can't make a carbon copy of a PS4 with Nintendo First party... what is wrong with that? what do they lose exactly?

Nintendo doesn't want to compete, they want to stand out, The PC wanna be market is already split between Sony and Microsoft, if Nintendo copies them then it will split three ways, all of them trying to do the samething...

Well yea granted... R&D is a b*tch... but if you fall too far behind... the cost is greater. Very much doubt they will have another "Wii" generation.... with that much easy profit.

No way man.... there are some 3rd Party Titles that can go Toe to Toe with Nintendo EAD's Finest.... They could benefit from keeping these guys on their systems, where they can watch them carefully... Obviously Creed Of Duty isn't One of them.

When the WiiU drops down to around $199 and the new Zelda and Xenogears come out, I'll certainly buy one.

But if I didn't have a quality gaming PC and could only afford one new "next gen" system...then I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Nintendo has basically been making "companion" consoles dating back to the N64.

For example, I liked the N64...but I sure as hell wouldn't have chosen it over the PS1.

I liked the Gamecube...but I sure as hell wouldn't have chosen it over the PS2 or XBOX.

Nintendo hasn't had that juggernaut, go-to console since the SNES.

Doesn't mean that Nintendo sucks, they just have a more limited appeal now.

no.... Nintendo's market share loses.... nintendo's potential loses.

What does hardware have to do with quality software? especially from first parties.... all it means is more power for them... nothing else, can keep making the same quality art direction and gameplay. only actually be the general publics system of choice.... and support much more...

I know very little about Inquisition... But the other two... Nope.

As much as I really like Bioware and Dragon Age. Nope. I hate doing it myself, but EA in general just hit the last nerve with Sim City. This means I'm avoiding the next Star Wars game too and if EA touches any other license I like, say Dragon Ball, you can bet I'll avoid it (at least until I can tolerate EA again).
