Meh cool but im hoping they make something new soon, been itching for a new Nintendo IP, its a new generation of handhelds come on Nintendo think outside the box and make something awesome.

Blake135

1st party wise you'll have to look at E-shop for new IPs, Pushmo is awesome.

They make several every year (people don't realize these games are made by Nintendo) and like the poster said above me, Pushmo is supposedly a very very good game so try it out

At their investors meeting, Nintendo announced that a new 2D sidescrolling Mario game would be coming to the 3DS in the fiscal year 2012-13.

SOURCE

They really are going all out, aren't they?

charizard1605

Wow. That's a first; usually they only release one main Mario platformer per console and handheld. I guess they thought Mario 3D Land was too easy and short (which it was) so hopefully this one makes up for it.

I hope that you can do 4 player multiplayer like on the wii. It's so fun to kill your friends while playing it :P

Heirren

All out as in........taking an already designed game and releasing a map pack for 3DS? Hardly all out, sorry. This is coming from a huge Nintendo fan. I like 3DLand, but there is still yet to be a killer app imo. Mario Kart, perhaps, but one that defines the console, nope? I hope the original zelda title is not a disappointment.

Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 review really well, and sell over 5 MILLION copies each within 30 or 60 days on market, to a consumer base of 12 million, basically 40% of the base bought them, and they aren't killer apps? Your standards are too high

Well, I just copied the title from GAF, I was pressed for time. But I think assuming it's an NSMB game is pretty safe at this point.

I used to love NFS at one point ;__; Does Pokemon qualify yet? Because if it does, then I'm a fan of an annualized franchise. Oh, and Assassin's Creed, of course.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] 2D sidescrolling Mario game. Has to be NSMB.charizard1605

...No, it really doesn't.

That's a likely outcome, but you're treating it as fact when there's zero confirmation.

I just copied GAF's thread title for this one. In any case, new 2D Mario Game Announced for 3DS... I mean, if you want, I *could* change it to that...

It's just that NSMB implies that it's going to draw heavily from the Wii and DS games. Which made me lose interest right away. The DS one was fine but the Wii one bored me.

Let's do some math: 2007 Nov 16 (UC1) -- 2012 Feb 22 (GA).

That's actually 4 years and 3 months apart, 4 games.Calendar year wise it's 6 years.

You seriously need to double check your arguments.

for me it was the opposite.

NSMB on the ds was about as basic and barebones as mario games get, while the wii version actually felt like it had substance to it.

Entirely new levels and generally more effort put in the sequels of normal franchises than sports games.

Mario is actually fun to play.

Yearly release with little updates. In CoD's case, Activision just keeps packing more crap into each box. Mario actually gives us hours and hours of new content, and isn't a yearly release of the same game.

I knew someone would say that.

Activision and EA are obviously giving the fans what they want because they buy the games every time. So again, what is the difference in motivation?

This is great news as long as it's NOT NSMB

i want another actual 2D mario game with 2D sprites, not 3D polygons in a sidescroller

i'd love to see some amazing and crisply drawn 2D sprites and backgrounds and put that **** in amazing eye popping 3D

super mario world 2 anyone? (or 3 if you really consider yoshi's island as SMW2)

It better rack up the difficulty, have entirely different world/level designs, interesting power-ups and use some of the 3DS' features as well.

Oh, god. I made a similar post like this two-three years ago. Each Mario game (and I'm talking about platformers here) has VERY different gameplay. The only thing that is "milked" or rehashed is the name.

Sounds good to me! And lol @ the inevitable rehash comments.

As long as the games keep feeling different while still offering solid platforming mechanics and expert level designs I'll keep playing them. Hate away suckers!

I'd expect a company with such apparent talent and creativity would utilize it better instead of putting it into a handful of franchises over and over and playing it safe. As much as I like Mario (and to a lesser extent Zelda), I'm getting a bit tired of them. Nintendo needs to take risks.

Like Pushmo, The Last Story or Xenoblade?

Most new Ips are not seen and don't succeed. That's why they don't make them.

At their investors meeting, Nintendo announced that a new 2D sidescrolling Mario game would be coming to the 3DS in the fiscal year 2012-13.

SOURCE

They really are going all out, aren't they?

Not suprising at all, looking at the sales of New Super Mario Bros. both Wii and DS. Nintendo has figured out a new, easy risk free way to make millions. i just hope they dont go crazy and make to many of them. Less they become rehashes.

Geez, if only Nintendo would stop making good games. Then people would have something to complain about.. I mean sure, there's a lot of the same characters, but the basic thing is, THEY'RE (USUALLY) REALLY GOOD GAMES.

Geez, if only Nintendo would stop making good games. Then people would have something to complain about.. I mean sure, there's a lot of the same characters, but the basic thing is, THEY'RE (USUALLY) REALLY GOOD GAMES.

Mario1331

na people just want them to do something else but ignore the games like pushmo, xenoblade, etc

i honestly dont know what nintendo is to do anymore

Is Xenoblade the one that Nintendo published (but did not develop), but did not give it a US release? I remember one game for the Wii which was excellently reviewed yet Nintendo decided not to bring it stateside. Sounds like risk-taking to me, yup. And Push-mo? A puzzle game. Wow. Extreme risk there.
