Next gen consoles PS4/X1 will outperform current gen PCs

Why do you people keep comparing current gen PCs to next gen consoles?

Two major points I want to make. First is all PC games today are built for the 360/PS3(tiny RAM) and then tuned up for the PC. They blow away the 360 and PS3 versions but next gen is another story. Next gen consoles have massive amounts of RAM to play with and of course updated hardware.

Second point I want to make is physics. Next gen will be about physics. PS4 has 4CUs dedicated to physics and it will be used to give next gen games a unique feel. Of course the games will have all around better graphics, higher res and so on but what will set them apart is the vast improvement in physics.

Of course next gen PCs will be able to run next gen console games better but then you have to upgrade your PC to get to that point.

If you buy a PC this year, unless it's a MONSTER build like 1% of people actually have, then the PS4 will run next gen games better.

One final point I want to make is that Nvidia looks to be in trouble because their little physx gimmick will be done with now that AMD is in both next gen consoles and they will be doing next gen physics with that hardware.

"Current-gen PCs" already have higher specs than the new consoles. I'm confused on your points.

Are you saying that it will beat low to mid-range PCs?

I can tell you are a noob consoles use sucky tablet cpus a only have 8gb that's gotta be shared between the cpu and gpu.

"Current-gen PCs" make no sense. Furthermore PCs since 2011 have more power than either next gen console.

It''s fairly typical human behavior for those who have aspired to be hated by those currently aspiring.

My PC is running a GPU from 2010 and its still smashes the PS4. Not to mention my CPU is vastly superior.

But Ps4 and xbox One have games.

Could one assume, that the Radeon 7950, which is capable of 3 TF, and has 3GB of VRAM, if paired with an appropriately powerful computer...

Come on man, console and pc development are extremely different. Console developers who have the pleasure of working on a single title for a single console will get more bang for their buck. Hence Sony's first party studios.

a core i5 cpu mops the floor with the low end Apu that is on consoles and a 7950 is decisively faster than the cut down 7870 on Ps4 and that is not exactly a monster pc . Is something you can build with $700-800 and less if you only plan to upgrade

A monster pc would indicate the latest i7 and a gtx titan or Amd r290x

My brother doesn't even have a job at the moment and he built a monster of a rig with GeForce 770GTX, 8gb of best ddr3 ram and the very best i5 processor with a really fancy $500 Asus motherboard ( I forgot the name) which allows insane overclocking...Fail. And he lives in Poland which in relation to standard of living in other European countries to the West has to pay 4 times more for electronic goods so quit spilling nonsense around, TC!

You are wrong, Carmack says console exclusives get twice as much performance out of equal PC hardware to do focus on single spec.

720P BF4 on X1 and 900P on PS4 confirms otherwise.

1) NVIDIA isn't in trouble because AMD has a lock on consoles. AMD locked consoles down because they had no other choice in order to stay alive. PhysX will live & die by its own merits (just like TresFX or whatever Crystal Dynamics called their hair rendering protocol).

2) These consoles are PCs and pass data in a drastically similar way. This allows gamemakers to design for the highest common denominator and scale back from there. It's all their choice, but it is an option not previously affordable.

3) Consoles will only outperform certain PCs due to a spec advantage or optimisation. If you build it better, it will be better.

The 770 GTX has only 2GB of GDDR RAM. It's not what I would consider a MONSTER PC.

He was tlkaing about DX9. He was recently quoted as saying that console sNO LONGER have that advanatage. Modern API's Mantle, DX11.1+ and OpenGL with extensions offer similar performance.

The so called console "to the metal" advanatge vanishes with this generation.

ONly thing I care about is my experience, not everybody else's. My PC smacks next gen consoles around for a warm up. That doesn't mean I don't want a PS4 though, because I do.
