NEW Gears 4 MP footage! (What it really looks like)

Gotta say a little underwhelmed, NOT graphically but mainly everything else....i expected substational changes in terms of animations/movement compared to the previous gears, but instead its much more of the same.

The gameplay looks so clunky and repetitive.

If this were on the PS4, reviewers wouldn't turn on their Xbox bias and would have given this game a 7/10.

And was that a button promp over the character? That feels like an insult to players, cause they can't remember what button pulls then out of cover.

Oh, my bad, I thought I was looking at Gears Of War 2 or 3.

But Holy hell, this has got to be a late April Fool's joke. I know PS2 games with better graphics than that.

Huh, everything from weapons to animations to sounds effects is recycled. Not ideal, looks like a good X360 sequel but a next gen "reboot" game? Not seeing it. MS have really fallen apart with their first party.

There's no need for them to improve their mediocre game. They have the gaming media bought and will give it a 9/10.

It is far harder for the PS exclusive to get good review scores than it is for a Xbox exclusive game due to the pro-Xbox media bias.

Looks good enough to please the gears crowd, and that's all that matters really.

this is suppose to be 1080p 60 in multiplayer right? thats going to rule out anything too good visually for xbone.

I've never been big on Gears MP; Horde mode was the game's greatest hook (Beast mode in Gears 3 was nifty, but I only tinkered with it). UC, strangely, appealed to me far more in the MP realm.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing framerate issues in the footage or not - is it just me? Anywho, I'm highly concerned about The Coalition being able to keep the quality level up after inheriting the IP from Epic. Seems eerily similar to the Bungie/343 situation.

Looks like a Gears 3 spinoff or expansion pack. The graphics, animations, gameplay all look exactly the same. They are scared shitless to change anything after how 343 fvcked Halo up.

Funny how you attack P2P gaming considering the 360 was full of it last gen while many PS3 exclusives ran on dedicated servers.

Dedicated Servers aren't necessary if there aren't a lot of players in the map at once with many effects happening simultaneously (Think battlefield).

Something like Uncharted 4, Halo 5 or Gears of War 4 doesn't need dedicated servers, because hardly much action is taking place, so there is less information for you to send to another player's console. In fact, adding dedicated servers will make the multiplayer laggier, as you would need to send the information to the main server, and the main server would have to send the information to another player's console, so you create an unnecessary middleman that increases latency.

Anything with less things happening simultaneously should always run P2P.

If these games had 64 players in 1 map with explosions and vehicles all over the place, then you would need dedicated servers to process the varying netcodes without lag.

With piracy already rampant in PC gaming, developers must make sure the remaining PC gamers who actually pay for games don't ragequit.

I wish they stuck with GOW 1 gameplay, I really don't care for this.

@NathanDrakeSwag: except that they didn't for H5 :/ for multiplayer at least. story kinda wrecked the canon but I blame MS for that H4 was amazing storywise. H4 MP was trash doe. spent 4 hours on that and was like nope. but H5 is godsent. literally the only Mp game hat has me hooked. I never have trouble finding a game and it's 6 months out. but back on track.

Uhm... Gears will hold a special place in my heart as the first gen 7 game I ever bought. but this.... ? I was expecting much smoother gameplay and honestly, the "next step" in the third person shooter genre.

Not boosters or anything stupid but something akin to what tianfall did to FP shooters in general. disappointing. butt hey, Recore could still be great? heh?? I'll stick with Smash, SF5, KI, and H5 for the time being.

I've always been a big Gears fan and waiting for the overhaul that won't ever happen. I'll wait for a price drop. Nothing about this game is screaming day 1 buy. The characters look almost as boring as the gameplay. Good multiplat for the Lem's at least.

I'm loving how some people that never liked Gears to begin with are bitching about how they didn't change the game play to your liking. As a fan of Gears, I'm happy they stuck to the formula and improved it. The majority of Gears fans are happy about it. Graphics look like shit though, but that's to be expected of a console game.

@soapandbubbles: like how they move and such is very different from the 1st and 3rd. I mean the obvious run, vault, cover, roll crap are the same no shit. But you have to notice the difference in how they move between the 2, like I don't know how to explain it, it's just different.

OH i know that, i thought you meant in general with the overall gameplay. I actually prefered Gears 3 animations and movement, even the gore, etc....Gears 4 so far looks weaker in every aspect compared to gears 3. It is more like the ultimate edition and i hated it, it felt light, like the character had little weight to them when moving. I was really hoping the game would be above gears 3, introduce a new feel/look....new reload animations, cover animations and just make those little tweaks, like ND did with uncharted 4.

The fact is PC gamers are low-skilled scrubs who need keyboard + mouse hacks to play semi-decently.

It takes more skill playing with a controller. Years of practicing with consoles have made even the mediocre console gamers better than the best PC gamers.

I never liked the Gears franchise. I always hated the shaky cam that made me feel sick, and the excessive gore. This next game takes it to the next step with nonstop blood spatter all over your screen, wow. I don't know if they had that in the previous game but yeah, that's a notch off for me. The robotic animation and controls were awful too. Anyway, I have Halo Wars 2 to look forward to, big RTS fan here. Hope they won't botch the PC version.
