New Banjo-Kazooie tech demo...WITH KINECT!!

Rare showed off a tech demo featuring Banjo and Kazooie at the SXSW Gaming Awards today, one that gave the audience the ability to control Banjo and Kazooie with motion controls. The audience would move their arms in the air together to move the iconic heroes.

Rare revealed on Twitter that the demo was created by Audience Entertainment specifically for SXSW. While this was no confirmation of any sort of Banjo-Kazooie game to come, it shows that Rare still has interest in their iconic franchise. A video of the demo is available on Audience Entertainment’s vimeo channel.

Rare has been teasing a Banjo-Kazooie project for months now, with E3 2015 being the rumored time and place for its official unveiling. While a Kinect-based Banjo-Kazooie title is certainly controversial (even if this wasn’t it), know that Playtonic Games (built from Rare alumni) are working on Project Ukulele, a game that’s more in tune with classic Banjo-Kazooie platformers.

If Rare makes this a kinect game, the hate and disappointment will be unimaginable.

Yet, it uses kinect controls. Why would RARE bother if they didn't plan on using it in the future?

This plus the Banjo demo makes me think Microsoft is intentionally fucking with gamers.

You'd think they'd know by now that people don't want Kinect controls for games like these (potential 3D platformer incoming). I think kinect could be used for a minigame though.

I thought Phil Spencer said he doesn't want to see Rare making kinect games. Plus MS has dropped a lot of support for that thing.

Rare didn't even make this and it was known that Rare didn't make this before you posted the topic which tells me you are trolling. This is NOT a game rare is working on but a fan made demo of Kinect.

The RARE from the N64 days are no more.....so either way.....it ain't the same.

and they said Rare and Microsoft was done with Kinect.

RARE was replaced internally with Kinect employees years ago, not sure why people are surprised. Sure, they could learn to try and emulate what old RARE created with Banjo and other 3D platformer/Adventure games, but that's not playing to this "new" RARE studio's strengths.

I didn't even know Gamespot had an article when I made this thread. I checked afterwards, and the article only had 2 comments. I assumed that it was brand new. Plus it didn't say that in the site that I linked above.

Would love to understand that myself. Some companie like Nintendo, Sony, or...Somebody who won't rush it and fill it with a bunch of bullcrap, to fund and publish this game. It has potential.

Yep. You called it. *Sigh*. I'm not giving up until I see solid proof and confirmation that a next gen "true" Banjo-Kazooie isn't happening. As I said before, RARE doesn't even have to make it. Heck, let insomniac make it. They did great with Spyro the Dragon, Rachet and Clank, and Sunset Overdrive.

I'm starting to think that we'll never see Banjo-Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot, the original Spyro, and Ape Escape ever again. =(

Eh, Phil said he saw the game play of the new Rare game, it's not using Kinect and said it's classic Rare so there's that plus any talk of a new Banjo game is good by me.

That said, ya just gotta love all the negative hopes and dreams of the usual MS/Rare antifans here. :P

In the demo featuring Banjo and Kazooie, the audience had its wave its hands to the right or to the left to get the characters to pick up musical notes and jigsaw puzzle pieces and achieve a high score.
