Naughty Dog Stole Assassin's Creed Artwork In Newest Uncharted 4 Trailer (Naughty Dog Responds)

Lol, wow, looks like Naughty Dog pulled a Nathan Drake and stole some art that wasn't theirs:

In our eagerness to get the story trailer out we made a regrettable mistake and didn’t thoroughly vet the art work used for an in game painting. We’ve already updated the trailer. We hold all artistry in high regard and take full responsibility for having allowed this to happen.

I really hope that all the apologists understand that even Naughty Dog understand that they goofed up here. There really was no excuse for how it was originally.

That said, good on them for fixing the problem.

Nathan is a templar and UnCharted was part of the Assassin's Creed Universe all along. UC4 story: Nathan after the precursor race artifact.

There's a guy in the lower right corner in the Black Flag one, so they are not really the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if they delay the game to remove this copy right infringement material. Now that Naughty Dog have been finally exposed, I wonder what other things did they stole from other games and incorporated them in their own games and acted like they were their own.

It's just a single texture. Of course it can be fixed and replaced with something else.

They took key artwork, and it's stealing. Don't even try justifying it.

They were not in 2015. They were in 2013 and 2014, however.

Anyway, they make a lot of money, and are hardly on the verge of bankruptcy. The last thing they need is to create a strawman where none exists (because in this case, this is very clearly theft), to 'sue them' Hell, they seem to be taking this in good humor.

Naughty Dog fans should accept that even their beloved developer can actually go wrong every now and then.

@charizard1605: I couldn't care less about thus one way or another. They were in a similar situation for stealing some guy's subway map in TLOU. It was completely irrelevant in the end as this will be.

Of course its stealing. I dont disagree at all with that. Its just so small a detail that shouldnt be a big deal. They probably are just black flag fans and put the picture as an homage to it, im sure ND could come up with their own beach artwork if pressed.

What gets me is that they actually a made a level out of it and could have clearly used a photoshopped screengrab from that level, in a different angle, to use as the "painting". Too much work I guess :P

If only they were so concerned about Assassin's Creed as they are about the stolen artwork. You know, given that their franchise is in the shitter right now.

I would care about this if Assassins Creed games were remotely good. They need to focus on their gameplay and design and worry less about stolen concept art. The Ass Creed games are currently shit.

a) Black Flag was actually pretty good.

b) Even if they are shit, that doesn't give ND the right to flat out steal.
