If you don't know the N64 lacked lots of great 3rd party support because of its choice and limitations of its choice format. Final Fantasy left Nintendo and joined the Sony camp as well as many other games that helped keep Sony king of console with a bigger lead then ever before for 2 generations.The n64 did not need cds to survive.
