My friend says PS4 version of Witcher 3 is same as PC

My friend got the PC version for free, but he decided to get the PS4 version since he heard they were very similar. Lo' and behold, he says they are essentially the same. Is this true, SW? I thought PC version was supposed to be noticeable better?

It is if you play it at around medium settings with 1080p and 25-30fps

Your friend is wrong, i own both and the PC version is far superior if you have the hardware to make it so.

If you have a decent gaming pc, TW3 will run and look much better. Pretty much every mulitplat is always best on pc, except if the developers really screws up the pc version.

He is, it's just TC loves his passive aggressive, indirect type of threads, to make it appear like he's creating actual debate when it's actually just bait.

Honestly I don't see huge differences, but I'm stuck using goddamn YouTube as a reference point.

Anyone with both, feel free to give me a rundown because I might just borrow a PS4 copy from a library. At the same time, the sheer expanse of this game makes it more suitable to actually owning. Hmm...

They aren't even close.

And people pisting screen shots and comparison videos that only show cutscenes don't do it justice. But in the end it doesn't matter. It's basically the same experience all around. It's not like the story is better on PC or anything. It just looks and runs much better.

Just the whole 30 frames/60 frames thing is massive in itself.

Do you mean update 1.03? Yeah PS4 isn't on the same level as Xbox One when it comes to framerate, just read the DF face-off...

So it's BARELY noticeable?

Sticking with the PS4 version it seems.

PC version is noticeably better. It has better visuals and frame rates like 99% multiplats out there but the difference is not night and day since it's using same assets on all platforms.

Yeah agreed. There are slightly better shadows on the trees in the background (makes sense, better lighting on the PC) but thats it.... the gap between PC GTA and PS4 GTA is way larger than here... honestly the textures look (notice look, because in reality they are not) way better on the PS4 here... by miles. if anything these screenshots say you should buy the PS4 version....

well yeah its the same game witcher 3 duhhhh......but pc looks and runs better...

The water, textures and lightning are clearly better on the pc version and no distant shadows on the ps4. Also better frame rate on a decent pc which makes the game smoother and more responsive.

Well, your "friend" either has serious vision problems or he's trying to mislead you.

The difference is fairly significant.

Shadow quality and rendering distance, foliage quality and quantity, foliage translucency and specularity rendering distance, texture quality...these are some of the readily apparent areas where the PC version is well ahead. Not to mention things like higher resolutions, downsampling, Hairworks, HBAO+ and higher framerates.
