5 BULLETS ON BACK UP

Yes, vidya gaemz that are based on anime, movies.. Stuff like that. They happen a lot. And the general consensus is that they're not brilliant. BUT, my dear system warrior sluts, I'm here to bring you a thread, dedicated to licensed games that aren't complete trash.

I WANNA WATCH KING KONGEH!

Yes, King Kong. The video game from the maker that made the movie video game movie bullets on back up. This game was good.
-Tense melee and firefight combat
-Interesting way of explaining the dire situation to the player
-Being able to Breakjaw dinosaurs
-Beautiful visuals
-JACK BLACK BABEH YEAAAHHH CLASSICO

I have many more games I consider legit, but I'll start with this. I finished it on PC, Gamecube, and Xbox360, and I wouldn't think twice if somebody told me to play through it again. It's cool.

What about you? The Order, perhaps?

Actually, Spider-man 2 on the PS2 was great back in the day. That just had the web-slinging around the city down perfectly. It was a joy.

And The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King was great fun on co-op.

@Zassimick: 2 very good suggestions. I especially enjoyed the coop in The Two Towers and Return of the King.

The Simpsons Game was pretty good IMO. Super fun adventure if you are a fan of the series.

Soundtrack was way better than it had any right to be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGLembQJjls - GAME OVER

There was a Simpson movie. It counts!

Holy hell, where do I begin?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on GBC (though it follows the book more)

LEGO Adaptations of various movies (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, LOTR, Harry Potter)

Zass already mentioned the two LOTR games on PS2, XBOX, and GC games.

That's not counting some of the expanded Star Wars and James Bond games not directly based on specific films.

That's good. The first one is really good. As far as I know, you can watch To Kill a Mockingbird completely in the first game. It's the same developer as Riddick.

Bought it as recent as about a month ago. Got the fourth game too. Only played a little of it, but most of my time came from the PC version and especially on GBC version.

Get on that, son. It's so good. I would literally give birth to a gnome if that was re-released on the WiiU eshop.

I wouldn't say it's a Movie game. More like a Game based off of the Comic that just so happened to have a Movie.

Like Transformers War for Cybertron.

BTW I'd like to add Wolverine to the list of Awesome Movie Tie-in games.

I'd say Alien: Isolation is probably the best use of a film license in recent years.

I also liked the Die Hard Trilogy and Alien Trilogy games back on the PS1, I wish we could still get those through the PS Store, but probably can't because of licensing issues making it difficult to publish again.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is excellent. It made something fantastic out of a pretty dull movie ip (Pitch Black is cool and all, but get real).

Unlike a lot of other games, Butcher Bay is excellent game, period. It's not excellent because it does the IP justice or something, or because it's a console shooter and is dealing with low ass console shooter standards of its time to be considered special. It's legit great at what it does and one of the better games its genre has to offer. It's a legitimate exceptional blend of first person action with stealth gameplay in a way that doesn't compromise both genre styles. You know in contrast Thief is an amazing stealth game, you don't ever want to actually get into a fight though (albeit that's intentional). Riddick the actual action and killing was satisfying, and it made the sneaking engaging.

Other stuff that's pretty good like say Alien Isolation, comes with a shit load of glaring design failures in comparison.

Best Street Fighter game, easily.

Also, the Mario series. Such a crappy movie. Yet from that mess we got a lot of awesome games. Thanks Bob Hoskins.

Does the Arkham series count? I mean it feels like it's heavily influenced by Christopher Nolan's film trilogy especially with its serious tone.

I feel like I did a thread really similar a few weeks ago...

I remember I gave a long list.

I'll just post one game this time:

Agreed. The single player campaign was a blast to play through. Which makes it a rare beast among FPSs.

The only movie tie in game, apart from Star Wars stuff, that I can think of that doesn't suck is Spiderman 2. Granted, I usually steer clear of them so I don't have the best frame of reference, but Spiderman 2 is a genuinely good open world game. Lots of fun even though some of the missions are frustrating. There was genuine effort put into the game (as evidenced by Bruce Campbell, aka the chin of wonder voicing the tutorials).

I remember my first GC game was Spiderman...

Not sure if that is legit or not to most forumers, but I found it fun for a licensed game. It also surprised me how good it looked compared to the N64 games prior haha.

X2 Origins- Wolverine (I believe that's the name, I own it for 360)

Ghost Rider (ps2)

Any James Bond/007 game.

Batman Returns (snes)

GunGrave/Gungrave Overdose (ps2)

I'll have to think of more or look through my collection.

Yeah that Wolverine may be the best one. Ghost Rider smelled like dog shit, and played like it as the movie blew as well. I cant get into Bond games that are FPS. There is more to Bond than shooting imo.

Oh. Interesting fact. I assumed it was based on an anime as Anime cutscenes are actually in both games. I stand corrected.
