Last Year's Engine Demonstration:
Be great if it made it's way to the Bone. Sadly, Ubisoft's For Honor will fill that spot.
They are thinking about Console release but they said, it'll have to work differently than the PC version and will be developed by third party studio. I think it'll be more streamlined action oriented version if it happened. Who knows. Nothing is official though.
hope the combat has more weight this time. Played Warband a good amount, curious to see how this ends up
@XboxStache: I'm not sure those two things are really comparable
Well, For Honor actually has stance-variable sword fighting that dictates leverage and so on. For Honor seems to be a more casual take on Mount and Blade IMHO. (and third person of course)
6 million copies sold? Not bad for a game that was rejected by nearly every publisher (to the point the devs nearly went bankrupt).
How many of them were from Warband I wonder.
As for Gamescom, cant wait to see what they have in store, hoepfully it will concern itself with combat.

The game is a bit to advanced for consoles.

I'm worried they'll mess the combat up - I haven't found combat more entertaining or deep than Warband's.
Looks like it's too advanced for consoles excuse me for lack of a better word. as in how it could be played on a controller? .

The game coming to Consoles was a translation error. What devs said was that they are thinking about making a separate version for Consoles that will be developed by 3rd party and will play differently than PC game. Everyone started to write articles that it's coming to Consoles. Anything can change though.

For Honor is IIRC essentially a team deathmatch game, other than swords and shields its not really comparable to Mount & Blade which has a much wider scope and a much deeper game, not just combat. tbh while I think For Honor will have a more satisfying combat but its also much more limited in scope. It won't have horse riding and fighting, for one.
Other than that, **** YEAH. Yes. Yes. Yes.
YEEEEESSSSSSSS.
Well that was a terrible video. Show me some general gameplay. I want to see the campaign map, the combat, how the battles play out. I have no idea how this game actually plays, just that it's prettier than the first.
They showed a board game off instead of a battle. Pathetic.
Another video showcasing the modding tools. Lets hope they show off the larger scale battles now or a siege.
Maybe even a release date :D
edit: Campaign Map has improved quite a bit since I last saw it in Bannerlord. I wonder what the shield, dove and red dot at the bottom of the UI mean.
Edit 2: Character Creation, dialogue, exploring a town, some combat, inventory, and a bunch of other stuff.
Mount and Blade is cool, and the sequel sounds like it is taking promising steps forward with that formula. Plus I like watching a smaller studio work its way up, it's the value of the indie scene/middle market.
What i don't value is a fucking trailer that barely shows any proper gameplay. In game footage, but barely any of action or anything, when do we get a proper demonstration of the gameplay?

The map screen should be easy but the combat itself is where the controller will have issues.
Looks good. Never played a MB before, what would be a good one now to play?
Warband was my fav.

I'll have to check that out.
Check out the mods as well, many of the mods enhance the game greatly. Also Viking Conquest (a pay for mod) is really quite good now 99% of the bugs are gone.
Hope that's the default run speed they're showing and not with a character with alot of points in athletics. Also they improved the god awful UI.
A blog going over some of the stuff, giving context to stuff shown.

I doubt we will see the last point, or it being as good as promised. Didnt Toddler promise a very similar mechanic for his 2011 turd, Skyrim?

Warband has the best campaign (and multiplayer), but With Fire & Sword has some freaking awesome mounted units.
@Cloud_imperium: I hope M&B 2 isn't dumbed down for the sake of consoles. I enjoyed plowing/ploughing through mobs while being mounted and having a spear/lance equipped at the same time. I also enjoyed defending sieges.
@anthonyautumns: It's a worthy successor to the original, made for PCs. They said if they ever did a Console version, it'll work differently than the PC version.
So they lied about the combat? They specifically said they weren't going to be re-using M&B's combat system in this one, yet the footage is just that.
Im fine with the general approach of the combat. It just needs significant tightening up of the combat engine, because the on-foot combat is horribad in the original/warband (Dont let PC gamers that dont know what makes a good combat engine fool you otherwise). It needs to Improve the sense of hitting/impact, improve the responsiveness, improve the feedback, improve the weight/release of a swing, make the animations more natural, make the telegraphs look less 'binary', make close range or tight space fumbles less of a floaty dead-zone. Improving the basic movement mechanics.
Horse and Throwing/Archery were just fine, the latter probably needs some directional sound propegation.
Pretty bad presentation tbh. Wasting time on that board game and randomly cutting from one shot to another. They should have shown us one video where the character goes on a mission or something then attacks some group, no random cutting from one random shot to another. Still, this is one of my most anticipated games so I'll definitely buy it.

I dont remember them making such a promise.
They did pop up a few improvements here and there. Such as cleaving, and appearantly some kind of sprinting. But overall it seems to be the same. Which is fine by me, Mount and Blade has some of the most satisfying ARPG combat out there, be it on foot or on mount. But what they need to do is tone down high level weapon proficiencies, which removed any weight that was found in lower proficiency levels, remove the force field of doom shields have and redesign the spears.
Warhorse and Taleword know each other pretty well. They drink some beer together at gamescom and visit each other. :)

The guy in the right side Daniel Vávra who was behind Mafia 1&2, right?
