Most Creative Guns of All Time.

Guns are big part of gaming because most games are about killing your foes with big ass guns. There are a lot of kick ass guns in video games, and here are my top 3 most creative guns in video games.

3. Flak Cannon (Unreal Tournament series)

It fires shrapnel at a lethal damage level, and can gib enemies easily. The gun acts as a close combat weapon. Flak shells can reflect when fired on walls but it also makes them weaker. It's still useful and fun to use them on walls to reflect into enemies. PCGamer called it the greatest gun in PC Gaming few months ago.

2. Gravity Gun (Half Life 2 saga)

Gravity gun has two functions. Object can be picked up by using secondary trigger, and can be placed gently by using that trigger again, while primary trigger can be used to throw objects at very high speed. Gravity gun can be used to place objects on top of one another to access unreachable locations. It can also be used to break some objects and for killing enemies, by throwing heavy objects at them.

1. Portal Gun (Portal series)

Remember when I mentioned that we use guns to kill enemies in video games? Well that's not the case with Portal gun, and that's exactly what makes it so special. When I used Portal gun for the first time, it blew me away. I was speechless and I still can't figure out how it was made possible in the game.

Portal gun allows you to fire two portals, orange and blue (in any order you want). These portals act like a wormhole, where you enter from one end and exit from the other. You can also fly like a bird by shooting one portal on the ground and another on top of the wall. Similar tactic can be used to disable turrets.

Turok has Cerebral Bore. There's a gun in Painkiller than shoots lightning and shurikens and another that shoots pointy telephone poles. Borderlands 2 has a gun that shoots exploding swords. Saints Row VI has a gun that blows up people's heads like balloons until they explode.

I agree with the OP's list of innovative guns. But, I find them boring.

Gravity gun is always the best choice for guns in a game.

A couple of others come to mind for me:

The Cerebral Bore in Turok 2

The Resistance guns are great too... Auger through walls; the Explosive Pistol with Sticky mines; the Bio-Gun that made everyone puke, the Bullsey that locks and you can shoot from anywhere

Well in recent memory I would say Sunset Overdrive, so many cool weapons and some of them compliment each other, you can add perks to them too and level up. Half the fun from the game is fiddling with weapon combinations. I like the one that makes monsters puke and the one that adds a mini chopper that shoots down stuff below. Finish the mess off with spraycan bombs lol.

I didn't think the UT flak canon was anything creative, just an utterly awesome weapon. But yeah Gravity Gun and Portal Gun were both first things that came to my mind.

Despite being an awful game, Conduit had some pretty cool weapons with good secondary fire options.

Everyone already said my other suggestions so that's all I've got.

Definitely agree with the Gravity gun... so cool! And also weapons from Insomniac's games come to mind (ie. Sunset Overdrive and Ratchet had some sweet & weird weapons).

Two of Valve's games were in the OP (Portal and HL2 Gravity), and I saw Painkiller mentioned...

In recent memory, I would say Insomniac's games (Resistance 1-3, old Ratchet & Clank series, Sunset, last months new PS4 Ratchet game).

I like some of your suggestions better today. But I thought it deserved a mention in the thread. I also love the idea of the RPC (rocket propelled chainsaw). Sadly it has never been done that well... Also it's not as crazy as some of the other guns here. Somebody made one for Fallout: Vegas but its reload animation looked goofy and the video's that show it are real obnoxious so I can't show it.

Well here is a part of a video where you can see it in action but I'm telling you the dude is real annoying so I wouldn't recommend the rest of the video.

Counting this is a gun.

Mighty foot in Duke Nukem 3D. Why? Sometimes it feels that the foot is more efficient than pistol. It also seems that Duke is capable to destroy toilet seats and dustbins very easily with his foot!

I don't think it counts as a gun. Otherwise I throw in the explosive kitten from No One Lives Forever.

Indeed. On top of looking hella trippy, it happens to be one of the more practical weapons.

If you're going to bring up OD, then the firework gun comes to mind for me. It's just pretty to watch those fireworks go off as you shoot your enemies.

The stake-gun from Painkiller. Probably the most versatile gun in any game and also the most satisfying. Pinning everything to the wall is incredible. Blowing them up with the attached grenade launcher afterwards is awe-inspiring.
