Dsogaming reports:

As you may have already heard, the PC version of Resident Evil Revelations 2 lacks local/offline co-op support. And it only took one day for modder – and NeoGAF’s member – “Sectus” to bring it back to the game. Yeap, thanks to the modding community, Resident Evil Revelations 2 PC now supports local/offline co-op. All heil modders.

Those interested can download this mod from here.

In order to enable it, you’ll have to change current game to Revelations 2 in the menu, launch Revelations 2, and then turn on local coop (have to activate trainer first), and then choose a chapter in the game or restart checkpoint. Do note that you will also need Fluffy Manager (a mod manager and trainer for various RE games) in order to enable it.

As Sectus noted, his mod is far from perfect and comes with some bugs that may never be fixed:

- Keyboard controls affect both players (I doubt I can fix this).

– Raid mode local coop doesn’t work (hopefully I can get that working).

– If you turn coop on/off while you’re switching between Claire/Moira in singleplayer mode, the game might get really confused. Toggling coop on and off works best while the game is paused.

Still, it’s better than nothing, right?

Not bad for early build of the mod. What do you think guys??? I think Capcom guys are acting like fools... and modders are Dark Knights of PC Gaming.

I bet modders are one of many reasons why devs these days are so lazy.

Capcom saying PCs simply couldn't handle it reminded of me of Lucasarts saying Star Wars TFU couldn't run on PC and would require a super computer... only for the game to later release on PC.

Lol, just say it like it is and that you are simply to lazy to have bothered.

Don't worry: you get to buy the FULL experience and only get to play 1/5th of the game yet.

It's the new try befo... I mean buy before you try mentality of the games industry.

I bet the braindead people on consoles are the reason why devs these days release day 1 DLC.

Capcom: "We are currently looking into a solution because putting basic features that were in two version of the game in a third is hard."

Seems to me PC gamers are just more upset the feature wasn't included. They're right that it should be, after all how hard would it be to allow for it. Still, I can't imagine there's legitimately disappointed PC gamers, like two PC gamers sitting around one computer, loading the game up, going to try to co-op being like "dang, we can't co-op locally together".

I'm more likely to imagine some scenario where two PC players around the same computer go:

  • "Okay, I get mouse and keyboard, you get the gaming controller."
  • "Hold up, I can't play this game with a controller."
  • "You're gonna have to, I can't play with a controller, that's like insane since mouse and keyboard is soooo superior."

"Dear RE fans,

We apologize to our Resident Evil Revelations 2 PC players who purchased the game and expected to have local co-op as a feature. The feature wasn’t intended for this version and that caveat was mistakenly omitted from the product description on the Steam page earlier, and then included as soon as we were made aware. This was an unintentional error and again, we apologize for the confusion this may have caused.

We are currently looking into the matter and potential solutions and we hope to have new information to share very soon, so please stay tuned. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Local Co-Op was never a planned feature for the PC version. I'm assuming it's because Capcom has this old thinking that PC gamers can't play Couch Co-Op because "Hurr can't play split screen with 2 keyboards and a small screen on your desk!"

But with that said.

"Hi all,

On behalf of Capcom, I'd like to express my deepest apologies for the trouble and confusion this may have caused.

The erroneous feature description was a careless oversight on our part due to the shared game description text used across a number of platforms. There's no other way to look at it; we clearly dropped the ball here and didn't handle the situation correctly.

Rest assured that our teams have been looking at a potential solution and/or options. Our plan is to make things right for the PC community, but we wanted to make sure a strong action plan is in place before sharing a more concise, official response through the Steam community.

I expect to have more info before we hit the weekend land. Please stay tuned."

They might add it in. Remember Raid mode isn't even on the PC version yet.

I got all of this at that Neogaf thread.

With that all said, This game looks like garbage.
