On a phone so no linky for you!

Anyway, System Wars thoughts on this?

For me, I always looked at fatalities as the thing you got to do if you decided to invest a ton of time into mortal kombat. These intricate Proper placement/button combinations were easier pulled off after hours of investment and absolutely made you feel a little more connected to "knowing the game"...

That said....

There have been easy fatality cheat codes on this franchise before and I loved it... Especially in college when talking shit over a game of kombat was a daily activity....

What say you guys? Is MK only for teh noobs now?

@nintendoboy16: yeah, I mean the fatalities are a huge payoff in the game, I don't think they need to be needlessly difficult. Plus, it's not like anyone needs to use the easy fatalities.

Noob seriously ?

You think easily performing some flashy violent finnishing move after already skillfully defeating youropponent is a display of skill ?

Its just fatalities dude..... making them harder doesn't make the game less nooby..... it just means fewer people would bother putting in the effort to use them......making them pretty much useless.....

You realize he was mocking elitists who call out modern games for being noobish right? Retro MK elitists would likely freak out about this.

Back in my Arcade days, we use game magazines such as Tips N Tricks on how to perform Fatalities.

Great. Hate messing up those fatalities. Those button mashing sequence didn't work 90% of times.

Fatalities have always been pretty easy for me to do. All you have to do is memorize the button Kombination along with the distance from your opponent.

Anyway's I kan't wait for the Mortal Kombat Kollectors Edition. I think it kan be something special.

Yes when we discuss Mortal Kombat you use K's instead of C's when you spell. So TC it should be Konfirmed* in your thread title.

I remember the codes in the Genesis/SNES days with one button fatalities.

I can go either way. I got a 100% in the MK games I bought so far last gen.

Inputting a fatality code made a lot of sense in the arcade days. The fatalties were sort of secretive. You had to do research and print out sheets to try em out. It was cool because it sparked discussion and generated a dedicated fanbase.

Now it just feels kinda dumb. It only causes frustration when people can't pull off the inputs properly. Glad they're putting this in.

I think fatalities and other finishers are something you should have to memorize as a way to rub your victory into your opponent and if you can't be bothered to commit to memorizing them then you don't deserve the bragging rights. I mean if they were to be made more forgiving then at least in other ways like making the execution is more forgiving, either by getting rid of really difficult to pull off fatalities because of their button combinations or distance to the other player or whatever, maybe make sure they're easier to pull off in that regard.

See, here's how I view how simplification. Somethings are simplified for the better (like this) but somethings are simplified for the worst (most FPS these days, making me want to play more 007, Doom, and Star Wars: Dark Forces/Jedi Knight).

Eh I don't really care either way, I've never had a problem with that. But if you can pull off a 20+ hit combo you should be able to hit a fatality to finish them...

It was fun in MK9 destroying someone and not using Block and pulling off the Babality and hearing the laughs and butt hurt in King of the Hill. There is a little sense of accomplishment and I hope some of that stays in MK X

I have no problem with this. It doesn't affect the outcome of the matches in terms of victory whatsoever.

Should have been a thing a long time ago. Originally discovering them with random button pressing was cool but with the internet there's no point anymore.

When I was a kid (talking MK1 = MK3 here), Me and my brother literally had a list of the fatalities and button presses for each one . We methodically went through each character, and when the fatality was executed correctly for all of them (many of them took a handful of attempts to get right) - "ok I'm done with this game". LOL.

I guess it was practice to know a few more of the fatalities at the arcades, but the whole concept was always pretty stupid to me. Then again I never got into fighting games in general, so the only thrill to MK to me was just seeing all the fatalities in action. But in the arcade I usually got my ass kicked. None of my friends were really serious either, so their attitude about the game was probably about the same as mine.

Fine with me. I've always thought that fatalities in the past games I played were pretty convoluted in the inputs. The dude is dead already, what the hell is up with all the button combos?

I remember in MK3 there were some animalities that required some second wind thing or something like that, then more buttons. I mean wtf?

I'm good with this.

I'm already horrible at fighting games.... so a few less button combinations to remember is nice.

I like the idea of it. It was never too bad to pull them off anyways, just like when we played. You look up a characters and moves and practice a couple times.
