According to this IGN article, microtransactions will be included in Gran Turismo 6. This is just the beginning of this generation. Will this become the norm for this generation?

There's also some confusion over whether these cars will be purchasable without spending real-world money. It seems like the option to throw some cash around is literally just to speed things up, though some fans have expressed concern over what this will do to the game's progression if you can purchase a charged-up supercar too early on.

No comment on if some cars will be available only through purchase or if you are able to unlock it via in-game accomplishments.

What does SW think?

Microtransactions and DLC have been normal in games for the past 4 or 5 years now.

Not surprised and won't help or hurt sales.

I think microtransact is perfect for this type of game because many gamer not have time to grind for favorite car. I have no problem if this is for forza or most racing game too.

I doubt they'll make more money on this than they will re-releasing GT6 later packed with $200 worth of DLC.

Exactly what I was thinking. We have had cows calling Lems for everything because of Xbox Live, now they have to pay aswel, its ok. Now GT6 and microtransactions = lol!! Remember the cows when you could use microtransactions in Forza horizon?

It's still not ok williambaker chump but it's managable since it's unlock progression and NOT extra cars taken out like the microtransaction cancer called Forza 5.

@Animal-Mother: Also doesn't mean you'll win the race, I'm sure plenty of racers won't buy the best cars and will still kick the spenders up the ass in a good race.

If the game still costs $60, then it's bullshit to charge microtransation on top of that, full price = guarantee full experience. There're games that're using this model before while charging full price, but most of them are SP-centric, unlike GT. So fvck them for trying to nickel and dime us.

I can only imagine the grind fest without spending any money on microtrasaction in this game; admit it, THEY WILL MAKE it so that you feel the urge to spend the money.

As long as they don't force you to use it then that is fine. They do it in GTA5 and i won't ever pay for it

I can see it now you get 1/2 around the track and a screen pops up- To finish the remainder of the track please insert credit card information.

As long as it doesn't stilt level progression it's all good. I see they finally pulled the trigger on this as they had planned to do it in GT 5. I wonder if there will be a Prologue. I'm not really happy with all of this microtransaction BS but as long as it's not a pay to win situation then it's a little more bearable.

This is not going to end well, especially if it's going to be a Pay-to-Win model. =/

Micro transactions on top of a retail game have not. This is of course, down to console publishers.

But you defend them mate, see what else shit they can pull.

Console gamers will quite happily pay whatever "the man" orders them too. No limits son, no limits.

Which gen of platforms is GT6 coming out on? 7th.

Which is the generation which has just begun? 8th.

Will 'microtransactions' become the norm for this '8th' generation? How am I supposed to know that based on something happening to a 7th generation game?

I wouldnt buy GT dlc on principal, ive always had a new GT game on the day of release since the very first and ive had some awesome racing between the various games over the years.

GT5 pissed me off though cause once again i was a day one buyer and no i dont buy dlc content but then sometime later down the line a new version of GT5 is released with ALL of the dlc added in for free whilst im still expected to pay for it via the ps store.
