I would hope that by now you've heard of the PC Gaming Show. It's the first-ever E3 show dedicated to the power and glory that is the PC, and we've got a great lineup of guests coming to the party, including, among many others, Blizzard, Bohemia, Paradox, Square Enix, CCP, Fullbright, and AMD. Today the list grew again, as Microsoft announced that it's hopped on board as both a sponsor and a participant.

"For us, the PC Gaming Show is the ideal place to speak directly to PC gamers, and it’s a great time to talk about Windows 10 - the best operating system we've ever created for gamers on PCs,” Microsoft's Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said. “With Windows 10, we’re bringing the best of Xbox with the best of Windows gaming, including Xbox Live and the new Xbox app, Game DVR for nearly every game, and DirectX 12 for better gaming graphics and performance.”

It may seem a little incongruous to be talking about Xbox at the PC Gaming Show, but Microsoft is clearly seeking to establish the platform as an "ecosystem." Windows 10 will feature an Xbox app, and Spencer told us in a March interview that "Xbox is now a gaming brand," rather than merely a game console.

This week we spoke with Spencer about what Microsoft has in mind for the show, its vision for the future of PC gaming, and having the Xbox brand so visible at a PC gaming event. You can read the whole thing right here, but what's beyond doubt is that Microsoft remain integral to the PC platform for most of us, so it will be interesting to hear the company's plans.

Why are people assuming free to play dog shit is going to win E3? Seriously play some fucking good games for once on emulators where the good games lie. PC games just don't cut it.

Technically they aren't even playing pc games anymore, it's ported console games with 10% better graphics.

Apparently having the entire echo system destroyed, but having a smidgen slightly better console game is a massive win, of some kind. Very odd.

It's not like modern PC games are any good anyway exactly. Gone are the days of Doom and Quake man. Gone are the days.

Ok bad joke aside, this could be interresting, MS have stated many times that they still do care about PC gaming, but let us see if they have finally decided to mean it. Heck they might even surprise me.

They'll probably showcase the Hololens. Not that it's a bad thing, but i can't help but think that we're at the point where Hasbro is already in talks with Microsoft about how the former can sell more booster packs.

That's true, most "actual" pc gamers these days are basically these guys.

The rest tend to mostly be bitter people living a bygone era complaining a lot, ignoring the actual reality. It's more pain than enjoyment, like watching a loved one pass away.

I'd have been more surprised if they weren't. Windows is the platform of choice for the vast majority of PC gamers such as myself. It will be interesting to see what they have to show.

I did. Last year I fell asleep half way through $ony's conference(same goes for M$). 2013 was gold though. The sleepless night was worth it. This year as I have a jerb I am just gonna watch all the trailers for games shown at E3. And watch the highlights for the pc conference cause I am just curious.

It'll be nothing more than showing Dx12 benchmarks, Fable Legends (meh), streaming Xbox games on PC and Windows 10 store designed to promote Xbox brand. Call me when they announce new RTS, Freelancer 2 or Quantum Break on PC.

Agreed. E3 is the largest gaming show on earth. Nothing to do with pc games, but more an excuse to have a second conference giving the Xbox brand more visibility, while simultaneously insulting the entire audience and taking up valuable space that could have been used for actual pc developers.

For all intends and purposes More genres are comming to the PC, and FPS games tend to get optimized for the platform.

90% of that revenue is free to play games like Dota. Steam top 10. Everything else goes to the shitter.

Sorry to say this but most Console "AAA" games these days insult your intelligence. They are made for movie and TV fans who like to see their favorite star in the game and a TV commercial of it during Game of Thrones,,, nothing more (Not surprising considering best selling game on Consoles is COD franchise so they target those people).

PC is only gaming platform where "big" games don't insult your intelligence. Wish there were more devs like From Software on Consoles... Consoles are loosing their uniqueness and genres on them these days are wannabe PC genres dumbed down to oblivion.

BTW when was the last time when you played Console AAA exclusive not held hostage by Sony and M$? PC is the only platform for which devs still make exclusives willingly because technically or financially they are not possible or successful on Consoles,,, look at XCom 2.

When was the last time consoles ever had exclusives that weren't payed for? PC is an open platform, it's a different thing. And it's not like the majority of PC exclusives that are worth a damn won't come to consoles anyway. Divinity OS comes to mind. Best PC game of 2014, coming to consoles. Games are getting bigger, they now have to be on more platforms to get their coin.

On that note we can see the multiplats, what goes into the PC version versus the Console version? Oh yeah... expanded services, the usual Graphics, and physics alterations, rescoping of hitboxes. You also did horrible homework there, since most the original games of most those series were multiplat to begin with, or had a console counterpart, such as Far Cry, Rainbow Six, og Ghost recon.

If we state target Audience, then we have gained more genres. So basicly you were never well informed, or you simply did not notice the console versions.

My point is AAA multiplat development depends on consoles existence. They sell more on consoles in general. See GTA 5. See most of the biggest multiplats in general basically.

but yes there are still PC SP FPS games that are not dumbed down by console 4A games make game like PC centric like Metro series and thier new sandbox game coming out. Flying wild hog are best FPS developer currently that are making PC FPS games. Deus Ex series is still excellent.

1. Most games at E3 are shown on PC anyways.

2 Whats wrong with Indy's? They make up more of PS4's library than PC's. Whats wrong with Moba, they have a higher skill ceiling and popularity than anything on consoles.

3. OverWatch, Torment, Dirty Bomb, Total WarHammer, Xcom2, Unreal Tournemnt, Star Citizen, Legacy of the Void, Dreadnaught, Heroes of the Storm, Heart of Thorns, FortNight, Blue Streak, and Larian Title VS. Halo5 and Uncharted...... No words needed.

And yet this is PCs first apearance in E3

Hopefully they put Xbox 360 and some more Xbone games on Windows.
