Pretty cool, Scuf have been making controllers like this for a while but they can't properly rework the insides of the controller so they have to compromise quite a lot, I'm pretty interested in trying this out and seeing how well it works with the freedom to completely redo the controller.
Looks like modded 360 controllers are pointless now especially for Razor since this controller is pretty much a direct competitor since it has all the features Sabertooth an Onza have.
This means users will be able to mod in their own custom parts. Which means that some enterprising soul is going to come along with a killer d-pad for it sooner or later :D The design language for it overall is a bit busy, lacking the sleek simplicity of the original. But it could be far worse. If someone makes a good d-pad for it I think I'm looking at my new main PC controller.
does not look anything like the mad catz.. it looks pure evil
Not necessarily the looks, but some of the function and design aspects look like something you might see from Mad Catz or Razer (especially with that black and green).
If anything, it looks a little bit more like this modular Mad Catz controller:
Even then, they're still quite different (not that any of this matters).
That price isn't that crazy at all. To get a controller with the same features from Scuf or Cinch you're going to pay about $180, and they still don't have all the features this one has. It's also worth noting that those are quite literally modded Xbox controllers. This one from Microsoft is a purpose built controller that is actually different. It even has some metal internals instead of the plastic pieces of the regular controller, and analog sticks that are guaranteed not to develop drift. I'll be getting one of these the day they release.
So far most of the big games shown at E3 are using the Xbox controller. With this version, I don't think the standard will change anytime soon. The Xbox controller layout is just the standard for gaming.
Looks like a nice piece of kit. I'll wait for pricing though.
149.99, dollars that is, seems a bit steep for a controller.
hmm... that's a bit much for a controller, unless it really is the dogs bollox. I paid a lot more for my Thrustmaster Warthog joystick but is top end quality.
I wonder if it's gonna satisfy @SolidTy 's stratospheric standards of quality
I'm glad you are so intrigued by my standards. Based on what I saw, no I don't think it will, however playtesting it for dozens of hours will determine my opinion in the end.
Notice too, that I didn't wonder if this was going to satisfy your standards of quality hours ago when I saw it. I know you'll love it. It has a big X at the top of it.
I gotta say though, releasing multiple controllers all over the place so quickly is a bit puzzling. We have the launch Xbone controllers, the newly improved Xbone controller, and now this model.
Clearly, one will surely be better than the others and that's the one I'll want, and since this is apparently $150, this might be the best one in theory, but who can say.
My pet peeves are still the same, the bumpers and Dpad, and what I see looks to be on par with Xbox Dpad products save for that strange disc. It looks like it's $150 and changing out pieces serve no purpose to my in my household.
For $150? That's like half of a console price, if money was stretched, I would rather take that $150 and spend a little more on getting a new GPU for my second PC, get a bunch of games, buy another bad ass fighting stick (I have quite a few), or even save a little more and get a new console to add next to my Xbone, honestly.
No controller is perfect this gen or any gen though. I have issues with all three controllers this gen as I've said before in other threads. I have also said, and I'll reiterate, I enjoy all three controllers this gen because I was weened on Atari, Intellivision, and other crappy controllers of yesteryear and I appreciate how far we've come.
I posted this line in my second paragraph:

That guy would buy a piece of crap if it had the Sony logo on it.
If you guys want to read the rest of this thread, just know you will eventually see an epic romance story unfold between two loving lemmings.
slim70 was professing his love for me in his psychotic stalker way (I got like 6 notifications from GS during E3, lol, seriously dude has the hugest man crush!!!) and then slim70 meets xhawk. xhawk sloppily steals comedic lines from me a la "Cyrano de Bergerac" and from there sparks fly.
Looks pretty slick. Definitely an enthusiast accessory. To be honest, I do not have an actual opinion. I do not currently have an Xbone and have little experience with the console's controller. The price tag isn't really surprising considering other controllers with the same features are similarly priced.
