How many of these special edition units did it sell?
10,000? 100,000? 1,000,000?
I don't really see any numbers and that seems like a package that was way to good to make more then 100,000 sets of...

It's online preorders, I'd be surprised if it was more than 700.

That they would make money.
An "unspecified" amount of MGS4 bundles have been sold, but how many?
And I thought MGS4 is getting an international worldwide simultaneous release? Why do Japan's consumers get access to MGS4 copies when we are two months off the official release date? Or are those purely pre-orders for the June release?

and maybe now we can stop hearing that lame excuse
Not to start crap, but the fact that MGS4 is being packaged in the best price/value PS3 system to date pretty much means we'll never be able to answer that question. Who's to say wether people buying this bundle bought it for this game or that they were just waiting for a 60GB system that was packaged with quality game?
I know its a popular game, but I'm just saying.

I edited your post because you said 60GB when it is actually an 80GB.[QUOTE="st1ka"][QUOTE="tmacscores91"][QUOTE="st1ka"]wow... and fanboys say MGS is not a system sellermnvike

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! I was freaking out here for a second, I thought I might have missed out on something big.

[QUOTE="Adrian_Cloud"]1.6 million in one day is my estimate once all the pre-orders get tallied up. This game will be huge, bigger than Halo 3 maybe even bigger than Grand Theft Auto IV. Getting my copy day one so thats 1 600 001.X_Evo
Sorry I lol'd in real life reading this.
MGS2 had over 1 million pre-orders in PalLregions alone. MGS4 is much bigger debut for PS3 than MGS2 was for PS2. MGS2 also outsold GTAIII in its first weeks. GTA is a bigger series than Halo BY FAR, this should be obvious.
there you learned something.

actually, MGS2 outsold GTA3 at first cause nobody really knew about the past GTA games. it took a little while for GTA3 to catch on.
i think the funny part is that you expect MGS4 to sell 1.6 million IN ONE DAY. mgs2 had over 1 million pre-orders in the pal regions, but how many were actually purchased in 1 day? not 1 million, thats for sure

Horrible reasoning, GTAIII was hell of a hyped game. MGS2 had over 1 million pre-orders in Pal regions alone. Imagine what it had in Japan and NA? 'nuff said.

nope. unlike MGS2, GTA3 didnt really have any successful, or popular prequels.

What does that have anything to do with hype?
Gears , Assasins Creed, Devil May Cry, Halo had no prequels yet they were massively hyped games, and had a great deal of impact. Metal Gear SOlid 2 may have had a larger fanbase, but saying GTAIII wasn't hyped is like saying Wiis don't sell.

In passing, how do you know that Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be bigger than Halo 3?

it really wasnt hyped. its hard to imagine that, but its the truth. when it came out it surprised everybody, and then its sales started to skyrocket.
Gears and Halo, yes, because they were published MS and we all know how much MS hypes games.
regarding bolded statement: what does this have to do with hype? what do you think sells games before they come out? hype
also, look at the games that have a crazy amount of pre-orders, they are ALL sequels
