I dont know why cows hyp mgs yes its a great game but its not a AAA series, both ubisoft and kojima make great stealth games and both series games are on par with each other.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (XBOX) 8.6

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (XBOX) 9.1

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (XBOX) 8.6

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (X360) 8.5

Total 8.7

Metal Gear Solid (PS) 8.5

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2) 9.6

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) 8.7

Total 8.9

Thier series is very close to being AAA, but these are still some very good games, i just wanted to point out that splinter cell is not a horrible series to any haters.

Metal Gear is the path-breaking franchise that revolutionized a genre. It remains one of the standout examples of what aesthetic expression in the videogame medium can be.

I agree with you that Splinter Cell is not a horrible series. It's good--but it should not be compared on equal footing with Metal Gear.

MGS series is AAA and it's a fact dude. Gamespot's ratings suck sometimes that's all... they're XBOX fanboys.

not to mention SP story pails in comparison to MGS story, its a story thats been going on for 20 years. SP story is like meh. Its still a fun game, i love it to death. But the characters are much more developed in MGS.

Many people play it for the story line as well as the gameplay.

I dunno why the two series are constantly compared. Anyone who's played the two can tell they are completely different.

And both are good series.

I could care less what rating GS, or any publication, gives an MGS game.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again... I like the military realism and Clancy flavor of the Splinter Cell games better than the crazy convoluted Metal Gear story. But I realize that they are both excellent games, Metal Gear more so, but I would still rather play a Splinter Cell game.

Lol why do you guys care about scores so much?

Most people will say MGS was atleast two times better than MGS2. MGS2 getting a 9.6 was a bit high IMO and im pretty sure in everyone else's too. Scores don't mean nothing, its just for the fanboys on here who are too poor to buy a console so they instead find an alternative way to support their dream console. They judge how good a game is based on a)graphics and b)score while never playing the game.

I've played both and I'm fairly certain people who have played both enjoyed MG much more than SC also GS rates compared to game son the same platform and series so MGS3 being 8.7 means a lot more when considering MGS2 was a 9.6

Taking into consideration that the critic score of MGS is 9.3 and user score is 9.4, 9.5 and 9.3 for 2 and 9.2 and 9.4 for the 3rd installment I deem your argument debunk. GS is not the end all be all and you must take into all scores which is where the critic score comes in.

I would like to point out that the month MGS came out was also the same month that Zelda came out, and in EGM magazine they both recieved perfect 10's, with them splitting game of the month.

And splinter cell is a diffrent animal compared to MGS, there approaches to the genre are like apples and oranges, they are both fruits but the flavors are way diffrent.

We're comparing apples and oranges here. Other than the fact they both fit into the stealth-action genre, MGS and SP are very different games. Splinter Cell focuses more on realistic stealth action, no hiding in boxes, no rations, just one of the purest stealth experiences out there. MGS however is more based around telling a story and Kojima is willing to take liberties with the realism of the game in order to make the game he invisioned.

And on IGN the average score for Metal Gear Solid is 9.7 and on gamerankings.com it's 9.4. Of course if you ask any fan, they'll say they're perfect. You fail.

I dont think they are that comparable...

MGS=Action and some stealth, better story.

SP= 90% Stealth game, better gadgets, good online.
