Metacritic Scores, # ranking or %ranking opinion

Using metacritic in the first place is dumb for a number of reasons. For one Super Metroid isn't listed and that if factually the best game ever made. Others include the random order in which scored numbers are placed. One 96 game is above another 96 game with no real reason for it. Maybe release date? Who knows? Top 5 GOAT means something different to everyone of us. For Heil it means top 5% on metacritic. For me it's the top 5 best games I've ever played. Personally Naughty Dog don't enter my top 20 but whatever, I like their games a lot.

Yeah it is a bit weird in places isn't it. According to their FAQ they assign some critics a higher weighting than others because they feel that they go into more detail.

I didn't notice Super Metroid wasn't on there, cause your right, that game rocked my face off!!

Neither. This is System Wars. Leave the Metacritic to the people with common sense and looking to actually buy games. We only use Gamespot scores here.

Not sure what source @tormentos should use since he fights mods over using GS scores for flop purposes while not actually purchasing any games himself.

Percentage. The ranking number means nothing.

i dont like using metacritic scores. why would other review sites that i dont even trust be counted?

it's simple man, use whatever score/site that helps your DC, you can backtrack anytime...

Which is why SW no longer uses 500 post rules. It was scaring newcomers to GS. In another way, I'm glad to see newcomers to GS, Welcome.

The problem with comparing games with Metacritic is the different review outlets especially for exclusives and the amount of reviews games get. A PS4 exclusive indie may have 5 reviews all from PS magazines and be 90%, whereas a big multiplat could have 60 reviews and be 80%.

Its OK at a glance, but without knowing how many and who is reviewing a game it is hard to use it as a meaningful source. At least if you use one source that usually shares your opinion on games, the score and review is more likely to accurately represent what you are going to experience.

metacritic is pure trash by any measure

They were annoying in the first time around. Making terrible threads to boot. Which was why the 500 rule was made.

Another huge flaw with Metacritic is that it doesn't include older defunct game magazines that are no longer around, which means that older games are heavily under-represented as a result.

Personally i run to Gamerankings in the past and Metacritic now to have a decent overview.

A single opinion isnt doing the trick except if 1) im going to try the game myself or 2) i trust 100% the reviewer ( which is a very rare occasion ).

Metacritic is the way to go ... Its the total average score between many proffessional critics and that imho is way better than a single opinion.

I think Metacritic is a good tool for people. They can't really help how people on the internet use it.
