It's getting to the point where nintendo is going to have to double down on the 3ds again while prepping for their next handheld. The wii u is by all means a lost cause and any huge game they put on it will be hampered by the anemic user base.

In hindsight maybe putting smash on the 3ds wasn't a bad idea

Funny, because Mario 3D World still managed to get damn near 2 million for what it got. That and doubling down on the 3DS is just going to piss more people (well, those who own a Wii U and like their consoles period) off.

Even the 3DS seems lacking this year :(

Well, we are still early in the year, so maybe things can pick up for the both of them. (Although, as hypocritically bad as this sounds, part of me is kind of glad the 3DS is, at least so far, lacking)

True, because although I'm fine, one thing the Wii taught me is that if you don't release games over time, people will lose interest, no matter how many games you released in the past.

At least donkey kong did okay, but I already knew that game would not save the WiiU.That will be smash(to an extent) and mario kart that do the saving if it's still possible.

Putting Smash on the 3DS was a bad idea. Its going to eat the WiiU versions sales no doubt. Especially if Sakurai makes good on his word and the versions are nigh equal with the only difference being different stages. Why would someone buy a WiiU for that game when they could get it for 40 bucks on the 3DS and suffer very little drawbacks? It makes me wonder what system to buy it on.

WiiU is as good as dead right now....

It's easier to play with all your friends locally with the WiiU version and you don't need multiple 3ds systems to do that. Some people may also want ot play on a bigger screen.

@Capitan_Kid: as opposed to keeping it wii u exclusive and have it sell to a low userbase? Yeah atleast with the 3ds version they can eek out some profit on what they're spending on this game

But, considering Smash is the kind of game where you need a TV screen to see all four fighters and that fighting games aren't that popular on handhelds (seriously, Street Fightert IV wasn't much on the 3DS, nor was Tekken on the PSP compared to their console counterparts), who knows?
