I think the question anyone should be asking is... who rightly cares? You'll be able to customize your character, right?
LMAO! I see the ressemblance but I think the problem is around the eyes. Too deep and a bit big. Nose could thinner too.
Anyway the main concern visually imo with Mass Effect are the facial animations. The eyes are sometimes off.
Yeah character faces and especially their facial expressions are abysmal. I sure as hell won't be using any humans in my crew. At least the aliens don't look awkward.
Bioware is mediocre at the technical stuff? No fucking way, it's like that's always been the case? They've had good art teams before, but the technical stuff has been weak since day one. Whether it be how unpolished their games are, to the stiff animations of their games, to how they often they abuse the shot-reverse-shot routine as far as their cinematography is concerned (in contrast, Telltale has a wider range of shots, go figure), how butt ugly their texture work can be, to how Dragon Age Origins all has this like fucking red wine vinegar filter going on.
Bioware might be solid writers, even okay at questing. But they have always been mediocre if not out right sub-par when it comes to the technical stuff.

Bioware's digital Jayde chin needs to be slightly smaller

Ai can't understand sarcasm. A thing to improve.
Attractive female character models are far too offensive for the average gaming journalist to handle. So this is what we get... I still find it hilarious that Overwatch is praised for its handling of female characters, and yet going by Pornhubs statistics, everybody still just wants to have sex with them anyway. So who are developers catering to?

Videogame industry in a nutshell. The hypocrisy exhibited by gamers and devs in this industry is baffling to say the least. Everyone is lying to themselves that sex doesn't sell when in reality we know everyone likes looking at attractive characters in videogames whether they are male or female. Videogames are supposed to be an escape from reality and the mundane. If we are going to be shot out millions of light years into space with crazy futuristic technology and aliens is it too much to ask we do this with crew mates that don't look like they stepped out of your local Walmart on Wednesday night? Shit just doesn't make sense at all. I'll be customizing the shit out of my FemRyder whenever I play as her, same with my MaleRyder, I can't stand his hair.

their resemblance is uncanny , it's just like me and Rayn Gosling
So, are you guys telling me that the women will be wearing make-up that takes hours to apply, wear evening dresses and do stupid photo op poses all the time in the new Mass Effect? You guys know shit about what pictures of her they used as a base for the model. Witcher is a stupid example to compare it with because the sorceress are vain, stupidly so, even Geralt hints at this at times that he things so.
it's their engine that sucks
On the contrary, Frostbite is state of the art engine, character models and their animations really arent tied to the engine being used.
Who gives a shit? I'm not playing Mass Effect so that I can masturbate nonstop to it.
hahah what. Oh this mems right here lol.
Right. Female characters look like crap, so you blame... ...feminism. And not, you know, due to a lack of specific artistic skill. As someone who has played every BioWare game since Neverwinter Nights, I always thought their female characters looked like dog's breakfast, save for a few exceptions like the female Spirit Monks from Jade Empire. KOTOR? Loved that game to death, but all the heads for female Revan sucked. DA:O? That game's females looked like they had steel beams for shoulders. Default FemShep? Urgh. Don't even go there. It's just a BioWare tradition.
Didn't stop me from enjoying them, though, so this thread is just a bunch of nitpicking and whinging, IMO.

I usually customize Mass Effect's main player character i.e. the 3D engine is fine.
Came in for some lulz... You guys can't possibly give an eff as to what the game characters look like compared to their voice actors right? Like it's a Bioware "issue" lol... Sad sad sad...
your boys can't animate fam, let it go.
I mean they also can't make a good video game, but who needs to focus on that part amirite? ;p
@jg4xchamp: did you play the MP from mass effect 3? Just curious. If so, what did you think?
I thought it was a boring ass horde mode that got mass effect fans feeling a strong case of stockholm syndrome, where they convinced themselves that mode was all that special and not dull as ****, because otherwise they'd have to come to grips with Mass Effect 3 was a pretty disappointing game across the board, beyond just the ending being shitty.

The problem is not what characters looks like, the problem is Bioware being too politically correct
@jg4xchamp: so cold champ... So cold. That mode was not as dull as you're making it out to be! It was way more gameplay focused than the single player and their were plenty of different classes and abilities to get you thinking strategically about each round. Outside of maybe the first modern warfare, I played that MP mode most last gen. It didn't reinvent the wheel but there were dozens of hours of fun to be had there, especially with friends. Good fun! Like white knuckle, final wave, throwing the kitchen sink on the last push type fun. That gameplay video made me feel like Bioware Montreal (who made the mp for 3) making the full game will assist the gameplay in growing towards less of a bad gears game and more of its own blend of gameplay choices.
I'm still hesitant as to what the story /characters worth will be in the end, but I think gameplay is gonna rock this time around.
Also, mass effect 3 didn't hit all the high notes, but it's a far cry to say it was that much "worse" than the approach mass effect 2 took, despite 2 having a great final sequence and me3 having a lousy final 5 minutes.
Great moments DO exist in me 3. Lots of them. The Asari temple, the final choices with the genophage, the assault in London. The gameplay holds up across that game.

wait what, nothing about her look has to do with Bioware being too politically correct.

@the_master_race: So a female lead looking like a female human being is boring to politically correctness? They are Appeasing mythical groups of protesters angered that not all video game characters should be a 10?
Seriously explain...
no that’s’ not what I was trying to say ,lemme rephrase that statement, Bioware acting politically correct is why many people are so sensitive about these subjects, nobody cared that Dorian in DAI was gay but when some PC journalists and Bioware tried to turn him into a sex symbol and call DAI a GOTY because it has diversity and a fully gay character despite its shitty story, lousy voice acting and its other flaws then people started questioning them. I’m not mad that most of Bioware female characters are butterface but it should not a standard for all games, this could affect the story and make the game less immersive. For example Many of these SJWs bashed Witcher 3 for being sexist, lack of racial diversity and blamed CD Projekt for not being like Bioware, ignoring this fact that TW3 is based on polish folklore and Poland is relatively "homogeneous" in terms of race.
*Character animation looks bad*
"DAMN YOU FEMINISTS AND SJWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Sounds about right for a gamer forum.
