Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy - which was better for their time?

In terms of a game that was needed for it's current generation to show off what a system could do Mario 64 is the winner. Now I know the camera angles are a little bad and some of the controls were a little wonky but the game after all of that is still a masterpiece. Heck there are times I pull out the dang game and play it for nostalgia stake. But Mario Galaxy is the better more polished game. Still both games are really good.

Mario Galaxy is more polished, but Mario 64 is a better game imo.

I like the wonkiness and the feeling of the challenge. It is more skill based and less on rails feeling.
