What a great year!

My pick is Portal 2. But I also love LA Noire and Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3.

Skyward Sword took up a lot of my time that year. It was a really good game but had too many disappointments to be in the top 5.

My top 5 favourite games released in 2011 would probably be:

Sonic Generations

The Exiled Realm of Arborea (TERA Online)

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Xenoblade Chronicles (PAL)

Has to be Arkham City for me. I was literally glued to the screen for 40 hours. Near flawless gameplay, absolutely enticing storyline, fantastic voice acting and quality all way through.

Skyrim is a close second.

I find it disturbing that Uncharted 3 has so many votes. That game was just not good. It was better than Uncharted 1 for sure, I'll give it that much, but it was still pretty mediocre.

Didn't play it until 2011 if memory serves correctly. That game shits all over so many others from last gen. And it wasn't even the most well-polished or refined experience either. Easily one of the best soundtracks of all time.

As for a game actually released in the year: Dark Souls (which I didn't play till 2012)

By miles and miles compared to the rest of the "competition".

The best game released in 20Godeven?

That year was loaded. Out of the games I played from that year

Deus Ex and Pokemon Black tied for Game of the Year. Both were superb games that pretty much absorbed me back into games and posting in SW. 2011 was my favorite year here.

Skyrim - Boring

Uncharted 3 - Shit

Gears of War 3- Great

Batman Arkham City - Superb

Ocarina of Time 3D - Boring

Super Mario 3D Land - Shit

Killzone 3 - Good, almost great

Resistance 3 - Great

Rayman Origins - Superb

Ratchet and Clank All 4 One - Shit

LittleBigPlanet 2 - Shit

And to top it off with the greatest game ever in HD? Shadow of the Colossus HD was sooooo good.

I love 2011.

  1. Dark Souls
  2. Spacechem
  3. Catherine
  4. Batman: Arkham City
  5. The Witcher 2

Good fucking year: Rayman Origins, Portal 2, Saints Row The Third, Gears of War 3s multiplayer, Mortal Kombat, Resistance 3, Bastion, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smiles

Had a lot of fun with that years stuff.

I don't usually vote for Action RPGs, but Bastion has the best way of implimenting Difficulty. And its a shame we'l never see anything like that again.

they're releasing a new game called transistor, it's same genre, don't know alot about it though.

I'll go with gears 3. although i enjoyed some other games from that list, none of them were anything special to me. weak year for me.

Portal 2. It was a damn near perfect game. It really should have scored a 10.

the fact that theres a 10 year gap between them suggests that 2011 is an amazing year

Without a doubt, it is Skyrim

I hate these types of threads but I liked it more when they were atleast about recent games.

I prefer when these threads are about older games, actually. I usually haven't had a chance to play half the games when they are more recent.

Probably Dungeon Defenders. Despite being an XBLA game, it has a huge amount of content that allows for a lot of replayability, and it's one of the few PC games out there with split-screen support, something that I feel should be considered for PC gaming later down the line (Especially with big picture mode being a thing)
