At the announcement of Star Fox Zero, and the recent news giving us more details about the game, the Wii U finally has a game one would actually buy. I have already brought my Black Wii U in preparation for this event. Although, I am not too much of a fan of P*(or is it P+?) games, this is Starfox, and they can't possibly mess this up.
In addition, since they are usually action game developers, I am expecting a refined version of Starfox Assault. From trailers showing ground combat, that seems to be exactly the case, though with the ship instead of on foot... But that's ok, I guess.
The game looks FANTASTIC (in motion)! I was wondering how they were going to pull off a great looking rail shooter with a more open direction and they achieved this with flying colors (pun intended) to my surprise. I'm expecting great things out of this game, and at least, being on level or above, Star Fox Assault, aka, best Star Fox of all time, aka, 2nd best game on the Gamecube.
Sadly this game is outsourced, so I don't expect future Nintendo games to go in this direction, but what can you do? At least they approved this game to be released, and I can't wait to play it. Day 1 buy (I don't pre-order) for sure!!!!
I... do have a couplemeasly concerns though, it seems the Gamepad from the footage we are given, and info I have so far, once again is not really used. I hear no word of playing only with the Pro Controller as an option, if they make it so that the Gamepad is not required then this would make the game even better, but I have a bad feeling about this.
There's also the lack of real huds or cinematic communication during play, they seem to be using SF64's old small square talking text boxes, which takes me out the immersion quite a bit.
