VR Missions for MGS was pretty good. :D

I mean how could you not love this game back in the days.

There's only two that I had fun with. The first MGS and Tenchu 2; both on PS1.

THief 1 and 2, early splinter trilogy and hitman series

Thief 1 - 3 haven't been surpassed. Mark of the ninja and Last of Us also impressed.

Blacklist was surprisingly excellent. Arguably the best stealth game in the last few years and way better than any of that there, Assassins Creed nonsensical nonsense.

I haven't played many stealth games but MGS 1-3 and Dishonored were pretty good. Hitman 2 was extremely good as well; almost forgot about that one.

Dishonored gets an honorable mention, but it's just far too easy a game. Even on the hardest difficulty, it's just insanely easy to stay out of eyesight by using blink and the jumps. The recent Styx game was also surprisingly good. Oh, and Blacklist is still horseshit compared to Chaos Theory; the shadowplay in it was useless (most of it being line of sight stealth), sound played no real role, and it was severely hampered by its incorporation of Assassins Creed style movement.

The Russian mission in which you attempt to shoot the man, but the man is a cardboard cutout and you are the actual one to be Assassinated was very good. One of the best missions ever.

The best stealth games are PS4 games. Where are they? Nobody knows.

Manhunt was pretty cool too, loved those games!

Stealth is my favorite genre, so hurray for this thread.

1. Alien Isolation - Tremendous AI.
2. MGS4 - Octocammo!
3. Splinter Celt - Black Ops - Despite it's lukewarm reception, I honestly think it has the best stealth in the series history. Terrible protagonist, though.
4. Deus Ex Human Revolution - Best customization and bag of tricks. Wonderful protagonist too.
5. Day Z Standalone - Most frightening enemies (the other d-bag players).

Honorable Mention: Tenchu Z - Guilty Pleasure... best mêlée stealth kills anywhere. Just don't' get stuck in the awful toe to toe combat. And Google the advanced controls, because lord knows they aren't in the manual or tutorial.

As far as games that feature stealth where it isn't' the focus of the game, I loved Skyrim/Oblivion... once you leveled up your character. Perfect Dark Zero could also be played as a stealthy game if you went a little OCD on how you approached the levels.

Thief 1 + 2.

3 was shit and I havent played 4.

Of course Splinter Cell and Metal Gear games are atop of the pile when it comes to stealth.

Another one I really enjoyed was Oblivion. That was a great stealth game if you wanted to play like that.

The Thief games are still the gold standard of the genre,especially Thief 2.
Chaos Theory is also great.

Thief 4 was also shit. I picked it up on launch day and never even felt like beating it. It was the biggest letdown for me all year, and Watchdogs came out this year so that's really saying something.

3 wasn't shit . It was a great game . Not the best in the series but still a lot better than other stealth action games . Storyline was as good as The Dark Project and a lot better than Metal Age as well .

This list but I'd swap MGS3 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory around, as well as Hitman: BM and Mark of the Ninja.
