XBOX isn't going anywhere, unfortunately MS focus is shifting. Actually they were never in the business of providing Exclusive content for their fanbase. I view the XBOX brand like I view the Nintendo brand. You can always count on a handful of exclusives and that's that, nothing more nothing less.

We got XBLA, PGR, Lost Odyssey, plus more. All you got are mediocre interactive movies. Giving them GOTY shows that game journalism is horrible.

I pretty much agree with you, having both the Xbox and 360, I will not being getting their next console. Just about everything they have as an exclusive is on PC, Save for Forza, which sadly is locked on MS consoles. A PC version would be fantastic. I got tired of xbox live gold and stopped subscribing and told my friends if they want to play games with me they can buy it for PC,PS3 or Wii-U, where I don't have to pay just to play online. I'm also sick of MS build quality with the 360.

Looking into next gen, what does MS have? Nintendo will always thrive on it's exclusives and Sony has quite a few of its own, plus with Sony going the AMD route this coming gen there hopefully won't be anymore bayonetta's and skyrims like this gen to set Sony and MS platforms apart. 

Next gen will be interesting if MS can hold it's own with such little exclusives for its platform. Without a bunch of exclusives, mise well just play on PC and buy a Sony and Nintendo console. 

Seriously, if you think that PS3 has games, then get out. All they have nowadays are mediocre interactive movies that tries to be games. If you want the PS3 experience, then go watch a movie. It'll be better than those crap offerings the PS3 has.

But, you know, third place out of four isn't...terrible!

With next-gen consoles right around the corner, Microsoft is going to have to do some major changes if they want to stay on top next-gen.

 

Xbox 360's exclusives this gen were, well, terrible. The only one I could actually enjoy was Halo, the rest of the games on there were multiplats. Sony could easily gain the edge in multi-plats with the PS4, and since they already have a large supply of exclusives.....

 

The pay-to-play online service is a severe ripoff. Sure, I pay for it, because I have the money. But lots of people don't have the cash/aren't willing to pay $60 to pay online. Once again, Sony already has the edge with free online. If they just fix the mistakes they made with the PS3, then I will have no problem switching to PSN.

 

I've already gone to PC because of a lack of exclusives on Xbox, but I could also switch to PS4 next-gen instead of Xbox. If Microsoft doesn't change their many flaws, I could see Xbox getting 2nd or even a distant 3rd place next-gen.

 

What about you, SW? Do you think Xbox is dying? Does Sony have the edge?

Is the 360 currently making money for Microsoft?

Are they still selling hundreds of thousands of consoles?

Are game developers and publishers still making money out of the system?

If the answer to all three of these is 'yes' then no, it's not dying.  I'll leave it to someone with more time to actually post the numbers but I do believe all three questions have a positive answer.
