No. A couple of average scoring games is hardly the sign of a failed launch. Overall, the system seems pretty good. It's head and shoulders above the PS3's.

Sony did everything fine. MS screwed up the X1 launch with all those anti-consumer policies they were going to implement.

I am buying the PS4 for many-many games and for a more technically advanced console. I didn't choose to buy it based on KZ SF scoring 8/10 on most reviews instead of 9/10 as expected.

Clearly it lacks quality first party titles, but I'm more worried about technical issues which we'll find out more in the coming months.

Too early to say.

That's more than the reveal than the launch, but that still has left a bad taste. Granted, you people need to realize the 3 million people that convinced MS that it was a good idea, and the rest of everyone else was not vocal until after, but yeah, it will hurt.

SONY did not screw up the launch at all... COWS did. They got on their high-horse about trivial things like the CoD resolution, bashed every XB1 launch game relentlessly, and made unreaslistic boasts about the "powah of PS4" and "greatness awaits".

Lemmings are posting in 4D. Talking about a launch on the 15th like it's in the past on the 13th.

Kuturagi would be proud. No wonder the XBone reminds us so much of the PS3.

The PS4 does have greater GPU power than the X1. This doesn't equate to all games being developed to score as high as people expect. CoD Ghosts was a opening for many to prove that the PS4 was more powerful with it having higher resolution.

No* (unless those hardware issues turn out to be more than just isolated instances.

1. PS4 is as powerful as the specs say

2. Wobble is stupid and a silly design flaw, but far from anything meaningful.

3. Can't help that games suck. Knack, Killzone won't have sales legs as word gets out about their quality. But delaying DC rather than release a piece of crap was smart. New previews of Infamous have been very positive. And nothing wrong with their launch could be worse than launching weeks or months after the Xbox One. They had to get out first.

All in all they will sell out and eventually deliver on games. The better question to me is do they have a superior launch than the Xbox One. That answer is a gigantic no.

Personally I dont see any reason to upgrade to PS4. If PS3 was about "It does everything" Right now it seems PS4 is more "Its does nothing extra"

If PS4 was about games, then where are they? And why the big focus on social media?

PS4 is missing basic features that PSP/PS3/Vita had day 1.

Where is Photos?

Why is Music/Video is limited to only Music/Video Unlimited?

I'm guessing they did the best they could. Launch lineups are always iffy, even if they have the most powerful console, the games are never made at the same pace. And I think there's nothing happening that most of us didn't see coming, even the fact that review scores aren't doing too well.

I think the launch itself is fine, the systems running great. framerate dips are nearly nonexistent whilst multiplats are running better and looking better on the ps4. The problem here is that knack and KZSF are apparently just incredibly average from a gameplay standpoint, Knack bordering on bad I suppose.

They pulled the launch off perfectly. They managed to build obscene levels of hype with rushed hardware and a shitty launch line up (like every hardware launch ever).

A console launch is always going to be a turd. Launching badly is when everyone knows it's a turd. Launching successfully is getting people to stay hyped and go buy one even though it's a turd.

To a small extent it has, due to the lack of major exclusives available at launch. But then again as long as there aren't any major hardware issues at launch I'd say it'll have went reasonably well. The releases on Driveclub and Infamous in early 2014 will help make the list of exclusives more respectable.

no, I mean I haven't heard of them melting the moment you plug them in yet so until then no

the launch exclusives seem like duds, but at least there's some good multiplats available

compared to the PS3 launch this seems a lot better

Too soon. Lets wait for a week or longer to see if there are issues on the hardware level.

As far as software goes, it's pretty decent, one of the better launch line-ups from past generations because we have awesome amount of games to choose from and play.

Nah... they, like every hardware manufacturer, just relied on our abilities to wait for updates. And I don't care what any critic says, I am personally super stoked about Killzone... it's my favorite FPS multiplayer series ever.

How did they screw up the launch when it doesn't come out for 2 days? LOL.

Just the fact that Xbox one is already less powerful than PS3 means that MS did all the work for Sony, by having their system be trash.

Yes. Hardware seems solid and I look forward to the future, but hardware is just a means to an end. I play games, not pixels, ram or gpu. They basically have nothing at launch. So, if you actually like playing games then I don't see how you can classify launch as anything other than dismal.

if the ps3 sucking ass for 3 years didn't kill off the brand nothing can so why even bother trying to have a good launch?

consumers have proven they will eat shyt and come back for seconds so why put in any effort?

if there is no reason to have a good launch then it makes zero sense to put any effort in.

i don't blame sony they are doing what makes the most sense to do.

get whatever games on the shelf you can and let the early adopters that will buy anything buy them.

That PS3 sucking as was one time and it got it's ass handed to it, and some markets did not forgive.

That happening again with this hype WOULD be an issues. However the launch is better, than the PS3's so far.

No games, slow and clunky ui, apparently large failure rate according to those with taco bell ones. Did I mention the lack of games? Seems kinda important to have at least one of them. Eh, maybe in 6 months you guys can have a decent game.

Exactly. Cows seem to think the PS4 is another super computer when it's hardware is incredibly weak before launch.

BTW the poor scores are MS fault. They paid Sony to put out subpar mediocre games.

Voted yes. Planning to get one but I feel as though the launch may have been rushed, only two first party games with a ton of indie games to go along with it and Knack is bombing. Not to mention it seems like more articles are coming in about something that's going to be "Patched in".

General public would say no.

Fanboys on gaming sites would say yes.

PS1, PS2, PS3 all worse launches then the PS4 and they all went on to be successful with the PS1 and PS2 dominating their respected generations. Anyone thinking this is a bad launch lineup is just delusional.

The exclusives aren't the best, but not the worst. Shared games with the One are there, Shared games with PC are there. I see nothing wrong with this launch lineup. I'm beginning to think gamers feel entitled or something. I've been gaming since the early 80's and this is a great lineup for a launch.

Opening the PSN stores on retailer sites was a great move and so is the Playstation app I just got on my phone. A bit laggy at times, but it is a nice start for something that will be great.

Uh, yeah.

Hardware that's already DOA, a limited launch library with mediocre reviews...

Just because launches don't usually start well doesn't mean it's not a failure.
