Digital Foundry’s latest video takes a look at the frame rate in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. For the most part, it maintains a steady 30 frames per second. There are only small dips here and there. Check out the full video below.

@Blabadon: Tantalus Media. They handled the ports for Zombi (previously ZombiU), as well as a few other games. Wikipedia page linked here.

I can't, and I have a PC that is midrange by today's standards. Pretty sure that applies to the vast majority of people as well. It's not exactly a walk in the park to get gamecube games running well at fullspeed.

Game looks good. I hope no one was expecting 60 fps. Zelda has pretty much always been 30 fps. Heck Ocarina of time was 25 fps.

Not that this game is in desperate need of a 60 FPS, this just shows how little games need to be remade now. You can literally repackage a game call it a remaster, which is barely above a straight port, sell it for near full price.

Don't forget, this game was originally designed with gamecube in mind. So this is a 2 gen old, fairly uninspiring drab looking game. (Not commenting on gameplay - different argument.)

Calling this a remaster when it can only muster 30fps most of the time just goes to show Nintendo can get away with anything.

@mesome713: Is there a reason a 2 gen old game which describes itself as a remaster and not a port shouldn't achieve it?

@bunchanumbers: 20fps actually!

What people don't understand is that 60fps is often much more than a frame rate uptick. In some games, animations and game logic is locked at 30fps, and it would take a large amount of work to change everything in the game to run at 60fps, or else it would look weird. Now with games that are designed to run at whatever frame rate is possible, that's not an issue but it's why you see 30fps caps on PC games and certain elements running at 30fps and looking weird next to the overall frame rate.

Now, shame that it's not locked 30fps in some areas but it's not a massive deal. Wind Waker HD, great as it looks got choppy on the seas and when bombs went off dropped in the single digits.

@mesome713: don't call it a remaster then. It barely looks any better than when it was on gamecube.

Look at all the people making excuses here. for Nintendo Look.

If this is £10, fair enough, but this is Nintendo so it wont be.

Didn't really notice the FPS in WW HD, and that had 30 fps with a lot of drops. So a steady 30 fps in a slower paced game like Zelda is okay for me.

Since I don't feel like writing another thread to ask this I figure I'd just drop this here - how essential is it to play Skyward Sword with the Wii Motion Plus adapter or compatible Wiimotes? I mean sure the Wii game is made to solely use this control setup, but is the game capable of being ported by any means using a standard controller solution, or will all future BC efforts be hindered by its initial design?

Anyhow, I'm considering getting this, at least it comes with a rare Amiibo (OMG did I really just say that?):

Many genres don't "need" 60fps (or higher). But all of them benefit from it, sooo... yeah :P Would have been a good touch. Sill, as long as it's solid at 30fps, it's good enough.

Nobody with a scintilation of activity above the brain stem was expecting a 1080p 60fps remaster, especially after Windwaker HD. Some of you might be a little slow to catch on to things but the WiiU isnt very powerful, and nobody who bought one gives a damn, so no, this isnt some kind of travesty.

@bunchanumbers:

Maybe, still plenty of time to bash, criticize, question, scratch head and be in amazement at the lack of games released for console, not only by 3rd party but even first party. Not to mention the endless topics and discussion from 1st to 3rd place and admitted embarrassment of Nintendo Wiiu .

@R4gn4r0k: "For every 10 exclusives on Wii U there is one remaster at the moment"

Care to back that up? For wiiu in retail recently i see:

Wind Waker

Twilight Princess

And then

Splatoon

Captain Toad

Mario maker

Mk 8

Kirby

Yoshi

...

I know I'm missing some but the ratio is definitely a long way from 1:10

Yeah I said at the moment.

So at the moment Twilight Princess hasn't released yet, has it ?

Here are 10 Wii U exclusives from the top of my head:

Wonderful 101

Bayonetta 2

Xenoblade

Super Mario 3D Land

New Super Mario Bros U

Mario Kart 8

Yoshi: Wooly World

Splatoon

Captain Toad:Treasure Tracker

Super Smash Bros

That is a good ratio of remasters to new games I feel. For Xbox and PS4 it's totally different as they were overloaded with remasters their first years.

The situation does change when Twilight Princess arrives... But we have new Wii U exclusives to look forward to as well: Star Fox Zero, Pikmin and Paper Mario :)

Hmm:
http://www.giantbomb.com/the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword/3030-26934/forums/removing-motion-controls-from-the-equation-576245/
Don't mention the e-word. I think we're not allowed to discuss it. But that post talks about the experience of Skyward Sword without motion controls.
The game is good but it does this annoying thing a dozen times too often. ("Here let me hand you this all important key... oops... it broke into 17 pieces.)

Wait you mean Twilight Princess, right?
It's pretty much guaranteed to allow for both motion controls and gamepad controls. And there are people who preferred the motion controls but they are in no way essential.

I'll have to go way back and necro those threads where sheep said..Nintendo does BC!!!!1111 Basically thrashing PS4 and partially X1 owners for not having it 100%. Will it be ok if NX cant play Wiiu games?

I really wish Nintendo fans wouldn't support this crappy port. It's very embarrassing that people are excited for this.

Go buy Wind Waker HD again instead of supporting this crap.

But for PS4 and XBox One I disagree. Yes there were quite a few non exclusive remasters, but then there were and still are barrel loads of non exclusive non remasters too that far outnumber the remasters.

Exclusives as well far far outweigh exclusive remasters/remakes with the number getting tilted more to original games and exclusives this year, where the balance is tipping the other way for the Wii U this year.

These are the games I own for Xbox One:

- Gears of War Ultimate Edition

- Rare replay

- Halo: The Master Chief Collection

- Sunset Overdrive

- Forza Horizon 2

- Forza 6

So about half are remasters (counting Halo as one game) and half are new exclusives from this gen. I'd say that is a pretty bad ratio.

Though not the 10/1 I made it out to be.

Okay, so why is the game $50 then?
