Leaked NX Stretch

Even though Nintendo refuse to share any details on the NX officially, leaks and rumors are coming in thick and thin. Today, Let’s Play Video Games, who have been at the forefront of a whole lot of NX leaks over the last few days, have shared some more details on what to expect from the upcoming handheld-console hybrid device.

The report reiterates that the NX will have a split D-pad, of the style found on PlayStation systems; it notes that the NX has a D-pad, two analog sticks, A, B, X, Y buttons, Home, Start, Select, and a Camera/Share button. It’s slightly thicker than the Nintendo 3DS XL when folded, so 25 mm, with a width of around 281 mm and a height of 92 mm with the controllers attached. Separated, the controllers have the same depth and height, and they both have a width of 38 mm, making the unit itself have a width of 205 mm.

The controllers attach to it with a mechanism that seems to be not unlike the one found on Microsoft’s Surface Book, which is a similar laptop/tablet hybrid; meanwhile, a headphone jack, a TV connection port, an SD card port, and a cartridge port are all present on the device, too. The prototype unit has 32GB of on board memory, and supports both, Unity and Unreal Engine 4, which means the NX should not suffer from the kind of paucity of third party support that the Wii U did.

@KBFloYd: Was funny watching some make fun of Nintendo for split d-pad, until they realized Sony had one. But its more like, hidden d-pad. its just taking the 4 circle concept and putting on both sides.

this is their flagship handheld...

the 3ds took them from 2011 to to now....outselling the ps4...

I've given up and decided to wait for the Nintendo announcement. I wouldn't be shocked in the least if the whole thing turns out to be wrong.

How is this supposed to be powerful? Hell, even reach Xbone level?

@Cobra_nVidia: lol! Its not so much negativity, as it is neutrality. I refuse to get too wound up over something that isn't confirmed yet. As far as I know, NX might be a line of gummi vitamins that come in a case that you can play gameboy games on.

All these rumors are confirming my worst fears. Another terrible nintendo gimmick with terrible games for another 5+ years.

I liked the wii remotes, they had a lot of potential if designed better and more accurate. The idea of them attaching to the sides of a tablet like option to replace the Wii U tablet sounds like a pretty good idea imo. But I would rather see the cost of such not hinder the choice of hardware in the system just to keep costs down. I think they should offer the tablet bit as an optional peripheral and give us a system with some decent power.

More rumours that don't mean anything because there have been so many already.

Everyone is only building upon a rumor. People are taking this hybrid as fact while forgetting that nothing has been confirmed by Ninty yet. I'll have a good laugh if the actual NX has nothing to do with what people have been speculating and talking about since these rumors surfaced. The ultimate Nintendo trolling, and it will be beautiful.

It probably will end up being it, but there's a large chance it won't also.

I know it says 32GB for prototypes, but that is incredibly worrying. What are they trying to do here? Are they trying to produce an Apple like device? I'm calling it, its a Nintendo branded tablet with their own unique OS.

Nintendo has some massive balls trying to go up against Apple and Android.

look at what the screens show around the buttons and sticks. They don't only extend the game image but also put markings on the buttons. Detached, it would give some visual on the little controllers. I would still think there would be a little more room in the middle for there to be some actual use in the detached mode.

i loved nintendo,the gamecube was one of their best consoles i owned,but with their current gaming direction and this even if isn't true they are officially dead.
