Xbone's are still under powered and cost the same as the competition.

#3 Posted by AppleFan1991 (3066 posts) -

Let's be honest. This is going to be their "one more thing" at E3

#4 Posted by Chutebox (37019 posts) -

How? Kinect is such an INTEGRAL part of x1!

#5 Posted by speedfog (3117 posts) -

Awesome!

#6 Posted by LadyBlue (3928 posts) -

A step in the right direction, but I'm not paying $400 for significantly weaker hardware.

#7 Posted by mattykovax (22693 posts) -

If true I might have to get one. That was my biggest issue. Not because of privacy concerns but I did not like the idea of paying extra for something I would never use.

#8 Edited by Suppaman100 (3863 posts) -

Bombshell?

Lol, won't change a thing, it will still be a weak POS system. PS4 already won, it's too late.

#9 Posted by Krelian-co (10673 posts) -

But i thought xbone was so succesful that they didn't need to do this, lems lied to me!

No one said this.

exactly..i honestly can't see how this is a good idea at the moment.

all the Ads showcase the xboxone using kinect..this is going to only confuse people

#12 Posted by ninjapirate2000 (3025 posts) -

Wow they actually did it lol.

#13 Posted by donalbane (16278 posts) -

Well, despite how much sense this makes, it's still a bit of a surprise. I wonder how many more units they will move as a result.

#14 Edited by shawn30 (4367 posts) -

Smart move. Though I enjoy using Kinect, a ton don't and don't want to pay for it. MS hasn't sold then on needing it, so this is a smart move. People spoke with their wallet, so this is the result. They reached price parity, so now they need to hammer the fuck outta games at E3. E3 will be nothing but gaming, period. I bet all new features and OS updates will hit well before E3. Great move to do it well before the event.

RIP xbox, goddamn morons. So i can buy a kinectless xbox one thats less powerful than the ps4, for the same price? why would i not?

oh, because im not a moron. keep diggin that grave microsoft.

Kinect is overrated trash. This is the best move they made in years.

Looks like I'll be picking up a bone on Black friday... that is if they offer a $350 deal.

Thanks for beta testing day one purchasers. lol

#18 Edited by Animal-Mother (26778 posts) -

Admitting defeat and meeting the PS4 price point

While kinect is cool the core gamer doesn't really have a use for it.

#20 Edited by chikenfriedrice (10204 posts) -

I disagree with this....they are basically giving up on the product they built the XB1 around. I would hate to have an XB1 without my voice commands.

#21 Posted by AutoPilotOn (8434 posts) -

I thought they were never going to sell xbox 1 without kinect because it was needed. If anything this would make me lose faith in MS

#22 Edited by AppleFan1991 (3066 posts) -

@lawlessx: how will this confuse people? $399 Xbox

$499 Xbox + Kinect

I mean last gen with the varying GB amounts for the hard drives didn't confuse people so...

#23 Posted by shawn30 (4367 posts) -

Bombshell?

Nah, its a really good move dictated by fans that to the majority they never sold them on what Kinect offered. I use it and like it alot, but many others don't so rather than be so prideful they ride things out into the ground they just gave people who were sitting on the Xbox One fence what they wanted. Price drop, no Kinect. They opportunity they have at E3 is to sell to the hardcore gamer.

But yeah, they pretty much killed any hope of Kinect 2.0 taking off, lol.

#24 Edited by GoldenElementXL (2987 posts) -

What next? Name change to Xbox 720? Microsoft has abandoned everything since the consoles announcement. All of this flip flopping is making them look weak and short sighted.

#25 Posted by Couth_ (10061 posts) -

Knew this was going to happen real soon.. Thought they would wait for e3 but the sooner the better

#26 Edited by I_can_haz (6551 posts) -

Lol they are admitting defeat so soon.

It's on their twitter feed. It's true.

Say what you will about Microsoft, they do listen to the community. The Nintendo leadership could learn a thing or two from Microsoft's game division. If they announced a $150 WiiU without the tablet controller, I bet things would turn around for Nintendo in a big way.

#28 Edited by misterpmedia (3380 posts) -

LOL! Now...sit back.. and remember all those lems that assured you....1...0...0...% that MS would never destroy their own dream and never unbundle kinect.

Everyone who could see it....called it. OT: This will definitely help MS get back in the sales race.

oh but they did, you should change your post to "i didn't say this" if you feel included in my post.

#30 Edited by StrongBlackVine (8418 posts) -

@shawn30: Basically the main the feature you touted for Xbone has been nuked. Kinect is worthless going forward.

#31 Edited by LadyBlue (3928 posts) -

No! they're finally listening to what gamers want. It's the right move, kinect lovers can still use it if thats the way they want to go.

#32 Edited by lglz1337 (3450 posts) -

philly spencer did it, a true gamer!

i knew it, right guy at the right moment!

now we want 1080p philly fix it!

june NPD will be verry interesting

#33 Edited by StrongBlackVine (8418 posts) -

Sales must have been terrible in April...

Where's Kuu hiding?

@Couth_ said:

Me too, that's why I've waited up until now. Suddenly the Xbox One looks mildly appealing.

#35 Edited by ninjapirate2000 (3025 posts) -

$100 price drop just in time for its first e3. Just like the ps3.

#36 Edited by finalstar2007 (25094 posts) -

lmfao they actually did it.. they went a full 180 on a loooot of things its hilarious but its seriously late i doubt this will bring the xbox back but we shall see but its really funny ( though this way xbox one will be $50 cheaper in Canada lmfao )

#37 Edited by AutoPilotOn (8434 posts) -

I think it's a horrible move. It just shows they can't be trusted if they ever could and anything they say could change at anytime.

#38 Edited by lawlessx (46644 posts) -

@lawlessx: how will this confuse people? $399 Xbox

most consumers don't do research. People WILL buy the cheaper xboxone and wonder where are all the kinect features they saw on TV. I worked in a gamestore for afew months..trust me this will happen.

It's on their twitter feed. It's true.

Than I will have to get both that and the PS4. good news, I really hate to miss out.

#40 Posted by legendofsense (63 posts) -

Seems like they have very little confidence in the original SKU.

#41 Posted by sibu_xgamer (339 posts) -

Well Microsoft contradicting themselves again and stepping backwards on their promises. Nothing good comes from a product which was still in beta testing mode 6 months after release.

Yes, but this whole system was integrated with Kinect in mind, that's what they have been saying & showing from the jump. This is a desperation move which isn't needed, if you ask me.

And now what does that mean for devs that want to use voice commands in games? Why would they even bother implementing kinect at all? I don't like this.

#43 Edited by LadyBlue (3928 posts) -

Day one edition ambassador program? lol

#44 Posted by Cuby_Finest (1129 posts) -

Shiiii just got real

#45 Posted by ghostwarrior786 (4337 posts) -

but the innovation of kinect!!! how can x1 function without kinect??? please lems explain!!

haha this wont sh1t shit, the titanfall bundle + kinect was going to $450 and couldnt even beat ps4 in the launch month

#46 Posted by shawn30 (4367 posts) -

@GoldenElementXL: Its not flip-flopping, its making changes on the fly that consumers have been s creaming they want. In business your original plan and what will actually work don't always coincide. The smart businessman knows when to switch course and make smarter moves. MS has taken entertainment apps from behind the Gold paywall, removed Kinect, and lowered the price to $399. You can't be so prideful that you don't see the writing on the wall. I wished MS would take the hit anbd keep Kinect in the box, but they thought otherwise, lol. Its fine by me. I can still use Kinect and others who want nothing to do with it can have a Xbox One without paying for it. It takes alot of grit to change course and make smarter moves even when you know criticism will come. Kudos to Phil Spencer righting this f'ing ship.

So both the PS4 and Xbox one?

this is huge news.

Bravo.... Good job MS, should have done this a long time ago.

#50 Posted by AutoPilotOn (8434 posts) -

@lawlessx: oh yea that's true. I can't even say how many people bought 4gb xbox 360 then wondered why they could not get latest cod map packs or download mine craft or whatever for their kids. Then ms had them cause they had to get overpriced hard drive.
