Looks like Killzone Shadow Fall is doing very well for Sony as the game has hit the 1 Million mark on a system that has 2 to 3 Million userbase

pretty impressive i must say

Killzone shadow fall becomes the best selling exclusive on a next gen system.

Not hard when the only other moderately good game on the platform is a downloadable title.

@foxhound_fox: My guess is that multiplatform games do not count init. Its so funny how people go with the idea that games like COD Ghost, BF4 and Assassins creed do not count or how about putting it into perspective with exclusive games on the WiiU and Xbox One

#5 Posted by XboxDone74 (2116 posts) -

It's to be expected from the greatest fps series. Folks are tired of casual, twitch shooters like CoD, Halo, and Battlefield. Movin' on up to the big boy Killzone.

#7 Posted by FoxbatAlpha (8813 posts) -

Most of the sales came from forced bundles and the premonition that the game would be good. Truth is the game sux and everyone is pissed off that owns it.

Good thing Sony is against DRM (LOL) because you will need to trade in all this crap they give you.

As someone else just mentioned why are you purposely trying to forget 3 other big games like AC4, BF4 and CoD? those games are pretty huge so what KZ has done is pretty impressive on a system with a small userbase.

while im not a fan of knack that game also seem to be doing well.

#9 Posted by blue_hazy_basic (28493 posts) -

I almost bought this but didn't. I think it reflects the real lack of games on the PS4 atm more than anything. No matter how you spin it though those are bloody good numbers for a launch game.

#10 Posted by megaspiderweb09 (3686 posts) -

@TheGuardian03: I feel like they should focus on creating their new IP and leave the continuation of Killzone for Guerilla Cambridge. That way they can pursue new interesting endeavours and GCambridge can sharpen their teeths with elevating the Killzone franchise.

Multiplats? I thought the only games that mattered to cows was exclusives.

Flip flop flip flop.

@megaspiderweb09: Yeah, I find it odd how many here on SW act as though multiplat games don't exist. I've got and beat Killzone SF but the 4 other games I have for my PS4 are multiplat and even multigen. Do I care? No. I'm still having a blast on my new PS4 and look forward to the incoming games.

The games ok....Not great. But Guerilla really needs to get haulin on a new IP. While shadow fall could have been really good and interesting GG kinda didn't too all to great a job. Nonetheless I enjoyed it for a launch game. And while people here sit and knock the game, i'll say one thing. You don't have to enjoy it. It's your personal preference whether you like a game or not. But Regardless of that i'm not an expert but I think that we hardly realize just how hard games production is or can be. So give some credit where credit is do. They did something most or any of us here can't.

I still believe this new gen launch has to be the best launch yet i mean when did we ever see a system launch with huge franchises like Assassins Creed? Call of Duty? or BF? like never and to have these games straight up at launch is seriously impressive and while people may argue these games are already on last gen systems they are still pretty good insensitive to buy the new gen consoles and play them there imo.

to have KZ go against the big 3 franchises and sell that much is very impressive though im not a big fan of killzone :P

KZSF filled the role it was supposed to. A pretty launch game with MP for the shooter crowd. Any one with greater expectations than that was fooling themselves.

Well pretty simply if you buy a new console you're probably going to buy at least 2 or 3 games and if it had been in stock I'd have got KZ but it wasn't :P

BTW you also forgot FIFA & Madden, they are hardly minnows!

I still believe even with multiplats it's one of the better launches. Especially comparing it to last gen.

Nonetheless people can still have fun where they can find it. Was killzone fun? To me it was I enjoyed it for what it was. Will I look back 5 years from now and go "Man that was a great launch game!" No. But it filled it's roll for me and I think what we don't realize is games is a person by person basis thing. It's kinda like psychology. Two people may have the same disorder or psychological issue. But it's a patient by patient basis.

For me it was a decent launch yea. My consoles are simply an extension of my PC gaming so I just need something a bit different on them. As long as my launch console doesn't blow up (*ahem 360*) then I'm happy to wait a bit. AC4 alone was worth it as a day 1 entertainment wise!

Of course its hard to forget about FIFA ( which seem to be doing very well in EU as always ) or Madden which proves even more how big this new generation launch was for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

It really was. That's what BF4 is for me. Bf4 is an absolute blast and while I can see it looking a smidge better now. It runs and plays like a dream on my PS4.

Good to see games are selling very well on the PS4. I'm expecting more from GG since their next game wont be held down by being a launch game. Should be interesting to see what they can do with the RPG genre.

Does BF4 really have issues? i keep reading online that the game is broken, filled with glitches and bugs which made me wait on buying the game but is all that true? from your post it seems like the game is just fine.

#27 Posted by freedomfreak (42890 posts) -

Good numbers.

The game is not good though. GG needs to do something else. No more Killzone, please. Especially not after what Shadowfall was.

#28 Edited by PAL360 (27241 posts) -

The game is ok. Let's hope that GG take their time, for their next KZ game.

I would suggest a better story, better pacing, more environment and enemy variety, some vehicles (and no, i don't mean scripted sequences with vehicles) for campaign and mp, maybe the return of jetpack, and no facilitations (see through walls kills the surprise factor, owl needs work too. I did beat the game on veteran and barely used it's options....didn't even remember they were available to use, etc).

#29 Edited by Joedgabe (5132 posts) -

Those Launch FPS, CoD: Ghost sucked, KZ:SF was mediocre, BF4 is broken. Yea, I can probably see why they would pick up Kz.

Since release they've done some heavy patching.

Launch week with the PS4 was a little spotty but I really have rarely any issues with it now. It's fun, runs incredibly well and is just an overall blast.

There are some matchmaking issue they need to fix such as map rotation and some other very minor things. But other than that it's fine./

Because there's nothing to buy. If the game was released on ps3 in 2013, it wouldn't even be noticed and no1 would've bought it.

Both Killzone SF and Knack outsold Mario 3D World lol.

Wii U's 4 million install base couldn't even help it while PS4 just came out.

Pathetic Nintendo company can't even sell their flagship Mario games any more.

Considering how low the install base is and how Killzone was never a multi million seller, hitting the 1 million mark is pretty impressive.

Actually KZ2 and 3 both sold above 2 million units each.

That was basically the only must buy retail game on the console, and it started selling even before the console launched, so not surprised.

Good for Sony.

It was promoted heavily. Included in PS4 bundles and is the only PS4 exclusive worth owning.
