That may be true, but its missing that special something which brings tier 2 games like Killzone 2 to tier 1 games like COD, and Halo 3, and Gears.

Dude, you're just pulling generalisations out of thin air without any basis in fact.

WTF is "tier 1 and tier 2"to you? Someone else already called shenanigans on your sales/quality argument, but fact is KZ2 remains the best selling FPS on PS3 behind RFOM.

You call Gears of War tier 1 without stating your reasons...even though Gears of War 2's online HAS BEEN BROKEN SINCE DAY ONE! CLiffy B even SAID SO recently, apologising for the failure. Google it. KZ2 had a deeponline with high player counts, dedicated servers and matchmaking that actually WORKED...yet you claim it's not tier 1? Even with a Metacritic over 90?

Speaking of Metacritic, let's go there. You brought up Call of Duty as a better tier 1 game. KZ2 came out the same year as Call of Duty: World at War. COD: WAW had a Meta score of 84...EIGHTY FOUR...while KZ2 has a Meta' that same year of 91.

91 > 84. So don't sayKZ wasn't top tier in 2009 when it even bested COD.

You brought up Halo as well. Halo 3 ODST, came out the same year as KZ2 as well. Another tier 1 franchise in your opinion that had a Meta' score of...get this...83. EIGHTY THREE. That's even lower than the aforementioned COD game.

91 > 83.

So in 2009, KZ2 critically bested both COD and Halo, had an online that actually worked, and became one of the best selling consoleFPS's to date. It's cool if you don't like it, but saying it's tier 2 because it wasn't "special foryou", well yeah, that's gonna get you some disagrees.

Odst was an expansion Bungie didnt want to charge 60 they said so. So compare the 93 of halo 3 not its expansion. KZ2 is a great game lems can not deny it. Halo is a great game cows can not deny it.

Both: "Can and will!" :P

Why are they using the U2 engine when they spent 3 years and Millions of dollars developing the KZ2 engine? lol. Meanwhile, it looks the same as KZ2 but with snow. So grey AND white this time around...

Killzone 3 powered by Uncharted 2 graphics engine

FIipMode

First of all, easy on the big font.

Second, that's not at all what the article said. All it said was that a few of the Naughty Dog guys helped out on the engine. Which should be 0% surprising, since Sony first parties have been sharing tech this entire generation.

They are going to use Jet-packs? :D So original. 8)

It seems like GG is taking some of the fans' criticism to heart. I see a snow filled environment. That's a check for variety, and a step in the right direction.

Hopefully, they do something about the sluggish control as well, f**k the fanboys.

I was completely killzowned(see sig) when the pics

And for the pointless arguments in this thread, we should be full aware of the fact that people who still go on to say kz2 was nothing but gray have never played the game and are totally ignorant of what they're talking about.

Doesn't matter, the guy said Halo. It's a Halo FPS, full campaign, Halo 3 engine under the hood, full retail price at launch ($59.99 with a $99.99 Collector's pack). The box doesn't have an asterisk beside it saying "but..but..but". L4D2 was basically an expansion, but still scored higher. No excuses.

I agree with you though in that both franchises deliver what they deliver.

Was hoping for destructible environments. I cant seem to take any game with a unbreakable wall seriously anymore after BC2.

Yeah. Duke Nukem is very disappointed in them. Tsk tsk.

[QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="ogvampire"]

hm... not sure how accurate that is since the current batch of '3d' tv's are LCD/LED

and as far as i know, there arent any OLED HDTV's on the market yet....

ogvampire

Ya, I don't know. Hoping for 120HZ only.

im pretty sure thats all you need

I've read that 3d ready is different from 120 hz. I have a 120 hz TV but I don't remember it saying 3d ready on the box, I think it has something more to do with how the glasses work rather than the refresh rate of the tv, but I hope I'm wrong.

I bought My ps3 for Killzone...So this is a MUST MUST MUST PREORDER/BUY!

#365 Posted by Santesyu (4275 posts) -

From the moment you said havet to where 3d glasses and havet to have a 3dtv to see all of the crazy effects in all its glory, I knew only then that this game was doomed..

Just look your TV up online for the specs. I remembered hearing something about mine being 3D Ready. I looked it up to double check. Sure enough, it is. :) Any TV that's come out in the past couple years that's at least 120Hz has a chance at being 3D Ready.

Still, it adds elements of realism in regards to the chaos of warfare. Plus it offers players more challenge where they have to think more on their feet.

That's true but Killzone 2 had destructable environments just not on the levelof BFBC.

To be honest, I always found simulators to be boring but if you're into that type of stuff, then I suggest you pick up Arma 2 not K3.

It doesnt have to be a simulator to have destructible maps.

Destrutible environments means more realism, doesnt mean it becomes a simulator. BC2 is hardly what i'd call a simulator and it works.

If there was destructible environments in Killzone 2, they should (and most likely will) definitely improve that for the sequel.

Anyway: - The scale is supposed to be "bigger this time." - The Jetpacks are "surprisingly lightweight and agile, Killzone 3's jetpack is easier to maneuver compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games." -- Damnit, should've waited for E3, Sony. Now I want more information and I'll have to wait another month just to get that informantion. *shakes fist*

Don't worry. If the desert level in KZ2 is any indication, I'd say Guerilla is more than capable of having corridors murdered and buried out in a ditch somewhere in the woods. :P
