Killer Instinct Season 2: Kan-Ra Trailer & Riptor Tease

The next fighter in Killer Instinct, Kan-Ra, has been revealed and here is his trailer with a funny little tease of Riptor at the end. Kan-Ra will be available on the 24th for owners of Killer Instinct’s Ultra Edition, while those who own the Combo Breaker pack will have to wait until the 30th.

Why wasn't Riptor in last year's release? He goes all the way back to the first game.

@Telekill: Because they're still working on the game and not every character from Killer Instinct 1 and 2 could be brought back initially.

I think they brought back original characters at a later date to keep the fans on the hook and keep interest going for the game. Looks good though.

As someone who is a longtime KI fan (since the arcade original release), as someone who owns this new Xbone game (not the F2P crap), and as someone who has logged in dozens of hours in the new KI Xbone game...

@cheesie253: The problem was that Double Helix had under a year of development time before they had to push the game out as a launch title for the Xbone so there's still a lot of content and ideas the development team has for the game.

@brucebenzing: I was kind of expecting that guy to say, "SHOOT HER!" after Riptor got loose.

I understand that. I love the game don't get me wrong. I just think it was by choice to spread out the original characters so that fans of those characters and the original games would stick around longer. They could have easily released the original cast by now but in doing so there would have been a greater chance of people leaving the game behind sooner. Now people will pick the game back up to play with Riptor.

@cheesie253: They are kind of spreading out the original cast so that there can be more characters besides the original cast, but I don't think they would have finished them by now since the development team changed from Double Helix to Iron Galaxy. Even if it was Riptor coming out this month, there's still Cinder, Kim Wu, and Tusk to get done and that would be 3 more months, but it's a game that's still a ways off from being totally done and it's cool to see new characters introduced to KI.

Until a proper fightpad is launched I won't be buy the full season 2.

Anyone has tips on how to master Spinal? I really want to like him, because I think he's a great character, but he has a steep learning curve.

I'm not buying this game until they complete the roster and put it out on bluray disc.

@general_solo76: Have fun waiting a long, long time then cause the roster won't be done for a while.

@Salt_The_Fries: I usually learn by studying players that are specialists with their characters, and the best Spinal player there is would be Hitbox Tyrant, so you could look up his matches. The most difficult part about Spinal is learning how to properly resource manage his skulls since he really needs them.

@kuu2: The Xbone controller actually isn't bad for KI, it works pretty well.

Agreed, have won numerous matches with it but a dedicated fightpad would make the league I play in way better.

No word on PC Release ?

@Lulu_Lulu: They said there's no plans for a PC release right now, they're focusing on the Xbone for now.

Is Microsoft really that desperate for the Xbox ? Tekken and MK and Blaz Blue are coming coming to PC with Rumors of Dead or Alive not far behind... With a line up like that They don't want to be late to the party.

@Lulu_Lulu: It's not that, it's just that they're still hard at work on making more and more content for the game or improving existing content. I wouldn't rule out a PC port, but right now that's not something they're focusing on.

this guy is real good at the game. if i wanted to learn from anyone it'd be him.

Khoalski is the best Spinal, Max is great at all the characters but Khoalski is insane. Youtube him

@Spartan070: @tymeservesfate: I wouldn't recommend learning Spinal from Max, he's good at Killer Instinct, but he's not much of a Spinal specialist (plus that video is kind of outdated since it's Season 1 Spinal). Hitbox Tyrant and Khoalski are definitely the best Spinal players out there though.

@Lulu_Lulu: Sure Microsoft Studios is involved, but it is being developed by a 3rd party Iron Galaxy (previously Double Helix) and is being supervised by Ken Lobb, and they're handling the game very well so far.

fighting games on consoles are more conveinant, like seriously how many people do you know get some buddies to gather around the computer and play a game like tekken. Fighting games just work better on couch consoles, i love playing pc games, but fighting games dont feel right on pc.

@jeezers: Well in Killer Instinct's case most people want it on PC so they can play it without having to buy an Xbone.

Certainly looks it. Almost seems look visual deceptiveness is one of his weapons, not knowing where he will be and such. Double-edged sword.

@Spartan070: It's all the things he can do with sand traps, scarabs, and his command throws that make him really tricky, and I imagine he's gonna have some scary setups once people figure out how to use him.
