The begging never ends does it?

I think I have discussed this many times before but here goes… First of all, we [Platinum Games] are developers and receive support from publishers by making games that they request or suggest. As for Bayonetta, we developed the game after signing a deal with SEGA. Later it was decided to also develop the sequel, so we started working on Bayonetta 2.

When development had progressed to a certain degree, in SEGA’s situation it turned into “This isn’t a good plan”, so development halted temporarily.

Without funding we didn’t have the possibility to continue development, but we wanted to get this partially developed Bayonetta 2 available to the public one way or another. So we offered it to various publishers, but as it is a big title, we couldn’t find a partner company. Finally, Bayonetta 2 was about to get terminated completely, when…

Nintendo came in and lent a hand and we were able to restart the development we so desired. Finally the game was released last week, so in five years, we were able to make Bayonetta 2 available to the public.

Knowing those circumstances, if someone is still angry for heading towards Nintendo, I wonder what’s the reason for that, wouldn’t you tell me in a way that is easy to understand?

As I have said earlier, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo… If Nintendo doesn’t say yes, it’s not going to happen… While you’re at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too…

Too bad it's not convincing many people. And for his info, people HAVE begged Mario and Zelda to be on non-Nintendo systems.

@clyde46: I think Nintendo doesn't even expect Bayo 2 to sell all that well anyways. Its more less another block to fill in its library. Lots of people complain that Nintendo has no 3nd party or mature titles, and now their appealing to that crowd. Devil's Third is another ex.

I never blamed Nintendo for Bayonetta 2 being an exclusive. I blamed Sega for butchering the PS3 version of the first game thus driving to disappointing sales thus driving them to cancel Bayonetta 2 middle development. FVCK SEGA

I think about 50%-60% of a million is a realistic prediction. I wouldn't be surprised if it scored less than 500K-600K

Anyway, Theres other talent at Platinum Games who are working the best Adaptaion of an Avatar game.... It won't be as good as Bayonetta 2 but this multiplatform.... If it doesn't sell well then Nintendo will take that too.

I think it ends up in the 800K-1.2M range. It is going to win Game of the Year from a few websites and it will look appealing to those picking up the Wii U when Smash comes out.

Microsoft has different leadership and a completely different attitude toward games now than than they did under Mattrick.

eh I dont blame them. If they really had no option what els could they do. I personally dont care since I didint like the first game all that much,but sucks for those who did. Since it seems unless you like mario alot wiiu hasint showed me alot to get one as of now.

The Nintendo hate never ends. Nintendo SAVED this game. You be thankful they stepped in and paid for a huge chunk of the development costs. If you want the game so badly, get a Wii U.

Seriously, you can just buy a used Wii U off of ebay, rent Bayonetta 2, and then sell your Wii U on ebay if your hatred of Nintendo runs that deep. Everyone who is a fan should find a way to play this game, though. It looks amazing, in a year where very few games even look good.

The rage over this game being a Wii U exclusive is hilarious.

Scalebound was announced in 2014 and Bayonetta 2 was confirmed for the Wii U in 2012; the former is very early in development and the latter was probably being worked on since the release of Bayonetta 1. And to assume Platinum wouldn't have reached out to Sony or Microsoft first, publishers who housed ALL of their major 7th gen projects (Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Rising) is just laughable.

I'm so happy Nintendo saved this game, I loved Bayonetta (even on the ps3), it would be day 1 for me but I'm poor right now.
