That's cool that a downloadable game (indie game) won GotY. I should probably check it out, especially since it's on sale for PS+ users for $8.
Based on what I've seen and arguments that others have made (from both sides) I don't think I personally would ever qualify this game as a GotY. I'm all for having games that are more of an experience but for a Game of the Year it needs to be balanced in all areas: innovation, gameplay, etc. Not strong in one and weak in others and I'm only basing this off of what I've read in reviews and on SW for the game.
That's my view on the topic.
