Itagaki needs a new engine...

He's been making great looking games for some time.But it's not the case anymore on the 360.

I can understand DOA4 because it came out near the launch, but DOAX2 which came out November last year doesn't look too good.


I have a feeling that the Ninja Gaiden 2 might not look as good as one would hope. What do yo think ?

I kinda noticed that too when I was playing NGB last week, it looks nearly as good as DOA4.:?

Yeap while playing VF5 today, it felt like VF4 in HD. While playing Zelda on my wii, I felt like I was playing a GC. I cried.

I agree, well, they need to do some upgrades to the engine, add real-time dynamic lighting and self shadowing, support for normal mapping, parallax mapping, HDR etc.

It doesn't exactly the same but really, they improved very little on the environment for a next-gen game.

I think the lighting, texture resolution, character model detail, colors and physics are dramatically improved from the Xbox version. And truth be told, based on DOA4 and DOAX2, I do not think NG2 will look much better than Sigma, but we'll see. I'm still stoked to play both games.

NG2 will come out by the end of the year. Also, I would be disappointed if NG2 looked like Sigma, it looks good, but I expect better.

Hayashi worked on Ninja Gaiden Black, so would he will most likely be working on NG2 at some stage. I'm sure it'll look better than Stigma.

lol No thats not it. I just don't like itagaki, he looks like a FREAK and is extremely arrogant plus he always contradicts himself

NO.. i am playing NG B right now on through VGA.. it looks fantastic.. and i have looked at your high res shots and some high def vids of NG S but i dont really see a DRAMATIC improvement.. it improved yes.. but not DRAMATICALLY...

Well, "dramatic" is a subjective term. I think it's a significant improvement, you don't. Then again, I'm planning to play it, and I assume you're not planning to play it (since you bash the PS3 without end), so what does it matter? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I assume you won't be beholding it.

I wouldn't say dramatically, but it is an improvement. Although I think no question NG2 will look better than Sigma, at least by a little, and my bet would be quite a bit. Using DOAX2 as an example of why Itagaki needs a new engine is a little bit... well, nonconclusive due to the fact that it's really just a joke/fanservice game, and if I were him, I wouldn't put a lot of work into it. I have a feeling he'll make a new graphical engine for NG2 and then apply it to DOA5 and DOACC (if that ever comes out...)
