Itagaki Criticizes Latest DOA Installment.

"In a recent interview, Tomonobu Itagaki, who left Japanese gaming company Team Ninja in acrimonious circumstances back in 2008, blasted the move by the studio to make Dead or Alive 5 "more erotic", and referred to their attempts to "milk loyal players out of [their] money" with erotic DLC as "disgusting"."

"He added: "Everybody is a little perverted; even I’m a little perverted. But, it was for that very reason I created DOAX [Dead or Alive Xtreme]; in order to target the people who wanted something a little bit more casual and sexy but at the same time keeping that tone separate from the 'fighting game' that is DOA. DOA is now a total mess."

My, my, my, Itagaki. Rough. Just make sure Devil's Third doesn't suck, or I'll be criticizing that! Heavily!

Itagaki can say whatever he wants to say as long as all of his games keep turning out awesome.

Obviously not enough big bouncing / jiggling going on for him. :P

I'd rather hear his crits on the current state of NG.

And while Itagaki will forever have my loyalty for NGB and to a lesser extent, NG2, he really needs to put out something worthwhile again. Devils 3rd better bring some top notch gameplay to the table, I don't care if it looks like a PS2 game.

I wish Sega would pick his ass up and put him on a Shinobi reboot.

Ninja gaiden black and Ninja gaiden 2 are ace. Devil's third looks jank.

He's probably salty about the fact that DOA is no longer his baby. So it's the classical case of bashing for the sake of making your successor look bad.

With that being said, it seems that the target demographic of DOA players are more into the game for that kinda stuff, so it's not entirely misguided. They'd be smart to put in the swimsuit consumes as an unlockable though

Didn't previous versions of the DOA games have bathing suit costumes? Or am I just imagining things?

I know the artwork for DOA2 leaned heavily on the sexual nature of it's female cast.

Yeah, he's a huge hypocrite and hates everything Team Ninja has done since he left. He even hated the remake they did of his game when he was still there. None of that matters though. He made Ninja Gaiden.

He's onto something, what we need is a Rumble Roses with the gameplay of a DOA game.

I'm just glad he had nothing bad to say about the game play.

problem is only those who actually own the game knows what he's referring to. He's 100% right about the amount of DLC costumes the DOA girls have.

in terms of gameplay DOA5 only improved on his ideas.

I always thought DOA was garbage even was he was at the helm. Now what they did to NG3 and the casualizing of that game gives him the right to a free slap to everyone who thought it was a good idea.

I agree. And the newer NG games since he left are complete garbage in comparison. I just hope he can back up all this talk with Devil's Third.

Anyway, Last Round seems to be pretty cool, i have the vanilla version and while it was ok, i thought it was barebones, might get this...if i don't get Guilty Gear Xrd anytime soon.

Itagaki, who has a reputation for being a perv... complaining about DOA5 being too perverse? What the...

But to be fair to Itagaki, DOA5 has raised the level of perversion by including a "loli" character like Marie Rose. I don't think even a perv like Itagaki would stoop so low.

Its not the Perverse Costumes that bothers him..... its the obvious fact that Team Ninja is is shamelessly trying to make money from them..... if you think the game's costumes are sexy then wait till you see the costumes that are actually for sale..... and how much each costume is going for.....

It wouldn't bother him this much if the peversion was hard earned instead of paid for.

Also, Itagaki is nuts.

Yet games like Tekken 6/Tag 2 and Soul Calibur 5 have incredibly deep character customization options and outfits and they don't charge you at all. I hope Namco doesn't eventually follow Capcom and Team Ninja's route and start charging.

I really doubt DoA 5 is much more erotic than the previous games. Especially not to the extent it makes the series "a mess". Sounds like he's just grumpy.
