I heard a lot of people saying that fighters suck with the 360's controller becuase the d-pad sucks. Do you usually play fighting games with the d-pad or with the anolog stick?
2D fighting games are horrible on the Xbox 360 because of the dpad, but for 3D fighting games I can still managed with the analog stick. But when it comes down to it it depends on the game you are playing, like DOA the gameplay is simple enough that there really isn't any problem playing it imo.
If you're not using an arcade stick then you're doing it wrong. It doesn't matter if the 360 has a crappy D pad. Fighters should be played with Arcade Sticks like DDR should be played with a Dance pad.
The D-Pad is pretty bad, but I remember hearing somewhere they've replaced newer versions with a better D-pad.
There wasn't any big announcment regarding it, but I'm pretty sure it's true.

I was exaggerating but I remember playing Streets of Rage 2 on XBLA and thinking it would be so much better with the Dual Shock or the Mega Drive (I think it's called Genesis in the States) controller.
The d-pad is atrocious. I can play Symphony of the Night better with the analogue stick than I can with the d-pad, which does Dark Metamorphosis every time you try to do anything else. I'm not much a fighting game guy but when it comes down to it, I'd prefer an arcade stick to a good d-pad anyday.

I agree with this. Personally, I would rather play any fighting game on a Dualshock. The 360 controller is simply not ideal for fighting games.

Unfortunately for the Dualshock the 360 gamepad is ideal for everything else.
