Is the media paid off by MS?

This is what we're resorting to? Speculating on who is paid off, because you don't like the type of media attention? You need to chill out.

Shame on anyone denying it. Despite releasing a year after 360, CNN called PS3 a sinking ship last gen. Show me a single article from the mainstream media (ABC, msnbc, CNN, Washington Post, Time, etc) condemning X1 in the same nature.

For all we know Activision has more to do with them talking about Destiny. Why not talk about some of the actual exclusives the X1 is getting this fall? Forza, Halo, or Sunset Overdrive.

And, do you really think anyone interested in Destiny doesnt already know its coming to the PS4? How would MS benefit from this?

@wolverine4262: I never said they called it exclusive. They brought it up as a reason X1 will sell better than PS4, when it has more pre orders on PS4. My whole point is that the mainstream media constantly makes a case for X1. Wasn't the same way for PS3 last gen despite releasing a year later.

MS drops a lot of money on advertising, especially during Gen 7. When a company is willing to spend a half billion in marketing a peripheral like Kinect, whether directly or indirectly, they are cutting a lot of peoples Christmas bonus checks. There's a very real reason why the mainstream gaming press would like to see XBox kept alive. Whether it's for nefarious intentions against the gamer or not, is up to you to decide but it does stand to reason that there is a vested interest in keeping XBox relevant into Gen 9 so that a company with pockets as deep as MS sticks around.

Some people contend that this is a good thing because it keeps money pumping into the industry. Others contend that it becomes overly political and subverts the interests of gamers.

@wolverine4262: that's right "brings it up as an exclusive" not "says it's an exclusive. You can imply something without saying it outright. The topic of the video was how X1 can catch PS4. How would Destiny do that when the game is getting more attention on PS4.

They paid off Youtubers and illegally told them they weren't allowed to say they paid them off so Yes. I can just imagine who else they've paid off if they're willing to pay off a bunch of nobody's.

Indeed. If someone, or something, says anything good about Xbox then they must be paid off. It's the only explanation.

He by no means in that video says Destiny is an Xbox One exclusive, he just said he think the game will help boost Xbox One sales. And he's probably right to an extent, Destiny will potentially drive Xbox One sales, maybe not so much as it will the PS4 but certain new games do cause people to buy a next gen system, and a good amount of those sales may end up being X1 sales. Anyhow, the guy doesn't sound too bright when it comes to video games, but he did seem to nail MS's problem with releasing the X1 as an entertainment hub more than a gaming console.

Anyhow, cows are like Tea Party morons, making mountains out of molehills and everyone is like "oh, the guy said Destiny is a X1 exclusive", he didn't. "MS must be paying off the media"; obviously not, otherwise the reporting would have sounded a lot more colorful than his hesitant and not very knowledgeable tone.

You mean the media that totally shit on them last year for their proposed X1 DRM plan. And continues to point out when there are performance/resolution differences between the X1 and PS4 version

You can't control the media. The media controls MS. One false move from any of the big three, the media will be all over it to get more clicks. No one is safe.
