As a reminder, 99% metacritic.

Better in what?

Sound? Story? Message? Gameplay?

Nostalgia?

What?

By a mile.

OoT is overrated.

Anyone that wasn't 7 years old should not have enjoyed that game.

I feel as though Last of Us wont have an orchestral concert played for it 25 years from now.

Would this be a correct assumption?

Well they already had a Last of Us One Night Live performance, and it has an orchestral score from a two time academy award winning composer so there's a chance

TLOU is a great game but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. It will never come close to having the legacy OoT has, nor will it make as massive an impact on the industry.

And there are other Zelda games that are easily better than TLOU. In terms of mechanics and design TLOU just isn't as polished as a Zelda game.

Pretty sure that's not true

But Ice-T has been on Law and Order for like 15 years and I'm sure makes a few 100,000 dollars an episode

I meant about you playing it and all that other junk because you'll probably give a totally different opinion on the game in another thread.

Metal Gear Solid was good. I liked the bit in the cars when the man without the shirt explains how it isn't over yet.

A very exciting sequence.

Mechanically, yes, it actually is. Don't tell me that OoT even has acceptable combat mechanics and even general movement mechanics in this day and age. Shit's clunky as ****. Now of course probably no game ever will leave behind the same legacy as OoT again. But there are many games that are better than it. It's not even the best Zelda game.

The Last Of Us is a series of tried and true gameplay elements meshed together well. But the end result is basically incomparible to Zelda. Two completely different things. But it's hard to agree that TLOU isn't as polished as OoT.

yah but he said it was relevant 3ds and ps4 are the relevant current gen systems

ps3 is last gen so that should matter less imo and plus im sure the original oot probably sold more or the same as the ps3 game so it wouldn't matter anyway

Ask again in 10 to 15 years. OoT has proved itself to me. It was amazing the first time round on release.

But I started playing it again earlier this year and to my surprise, it felt just as good, and I'm not exaggerating.

As far as I'm concerned, OoT has earned its stripes lasting the test of time. TLoU is just the good new thing.

How do you figure that?

Wikipedia - The Last of Us - Sales: By August 2014, the game had sold eight million copies: seven million on PlayStation 3 and one million on PlayStation 4.

Wikipedia - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Sales: As of 31 March 2015, Ocarina of Time 3D has sold 3.70 million units globally, making it the then sixth best-selling 3DS game published by Nintendo.

TLOU is a better movie than OOT, if that's what you mean...

But as a game, TLOU doesn't come anywhere close to OOT.

Last of Us Remaster = 1 million sales

OOT Remaster = 3 million sales

Last Of Us, being a newer, currently hot game for a new, hot platform, had a massive, massive advantage.

Yet, incredibles, the Zelda remake (16 years old) sold more. Indicating most people already forgot about Last Of Us, while Ocarina still holds a place in peoples harts, attracting a new younger audience as well.

If we go by actual original sales, Ocarina sold 7 million units in 45 seconds at a time when the user-base was much smaller. Again, crippled by time period, yet triumphant all the same.

Seems like Zelda is timeless, according to reality.

Yeah because a score on a site is the "voice of the people".

Check the scores for COD.

Can't see people being nostalgic about COD in 10 years , can you?

This is comparing apples to oranges. Both are great games but one was made almost 20 years ago while the other is only 2 years old with hardware that is about 100x more powerfule hardware. Different genre's as well

But that isn't what OT is looking for.
