Why buy a 360 for the service? Why not the games. If you don't want to play the games then buy other games for your PS3

If the online was free I'd be on live all the time. but NOPE. You gotta pay for gold version to play online games with people and join party's...silver just...let's you talk...PRIVATELY.

Of course its not. Now if you were to say "for the games" it would make a little more sense.

no, PSN is way better, don't believe the 360 fanboys, all it has that PSN doesn't is cross game chat which hardly anyone cares about

Why would you buy it solely for the online service? Try for the games, there are some real classics on the system.

Live is better implemented than PSN, but it's not worth simply buying the system for that :?

No, Xbox Live sucks. It suffers from poor latency, host advantage, and it has a hilarious fee attached to it, along with video advertisements on the dashboard. You also have to pay for downloadable content, even for content that is free on other platforms.

aside from the games, as far as the service goes you have to ask "is $50 a year worth cross game chat and a couple other options"

to me, it isn't. to some it is

Xbox Live is one of the main reasons i own one. If the Xbox had an online setup like PSN, i would think much less of it as a console overall.

PS3 has great exclusives and hardware. The Xbox has a great onlinecommunity, setup, and good exclusives.

In my opinion of course.

cant really say, but for my own personal experience, I'll say no. I just got an X360, and I've been downloading all what I can on XBL, most of them are also on PSN. other than its Arcade games, there was virtually no game I could download on XBL that is not PSN. obviously, there were exclusives, like Dead Rising, Crackdown, PGR 3/4, DOA4, etc but after playing the demos for these games, I literally do not know what game I should get for my X360. none of its exclusives interest me. maybe I'll get Gears 2, then again I have Gears 1 and I'm not really enjoying the game. any suggestions anyone?

my thoughts exactly. if a console's exclusives do not interest you, you might as well stick to your current console, be it PS3 or X360.

No Console is worth for its online service, they are only worth if you like the games that particular console has

You wanna buy another console for a service you have to buy? :S I'm sure your thread title's a bit off or mistyped but for one yes the online service of XBL is better than other console competition, there again you have to pay for it.

Theres alot more to it than that, the integration is something that has to be experienced. There are many more features that make it a completely different online experience from PSN.

No console is worth it for an online service by itself. Great games make LIVE what it is. A 360 is definitely a good purchase for the games (which in turn makes LIVE better) so go buy one now.

games bro, live is not worth the price, psn is free and does everything live does except party chat, which imo ruins online gaming.

It really depends on what you want from online.

If you want bare bones functionality, PSN should be sufficient. But if you want more... like community events, active community leadership, cross-game invites and a party system, then you may want to step it up to Xbox Live.

So the answer is... it depends.

Guys is the community the LIVE system or not?

ismo2009

Semantics.

In a way, yes. Subscribers are just a group of people that play online. But XBL is the means by which they stay cohesive and active. XBL is how that random group of folks becomes a community. MS really puts alot of effort into keeping that line of communication and activity going. They have very active and vocal staff that goes to industry events and meets with the end-users. On top of the themed nights on their community calendar, there are events like Game with Fame, Game with Devs and the Community Playdate... on top of their community developer and ambassador programs.

Based on my experience with both, XBL just does more to cater to their userbase. Sony just throws features out there and leaves it to devs/publishers and users to use or not.

But hey, that's just my opinion. Mileage will vary.
