Is Ed Boon teasing Mortal Kombat 10 on Twitter?

Ever since the beginning of May, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has been counting down to a reveal of something, leading many to believe that it might actually be a new entry in the Mortal Kombat series.

MK9 was our go-to game for my bros at our game nights for a long time. Definitely hyped.

Hopefully MK10 has PC at launch.

I used to love Mortal Kombat back in the Sega Genesis days...today it is irrelevant.

Damn it, I still haven't got MK9: Komplete yet.

Honestly, a MK X (cross) Tekken or MK X Capcom would be completely bad ass... probably wont happen, but talk about an bad ass roster overload. How about MK X Street Fighter... or MK vs DC... all those sound sweet. But MK10 would be a first day buy as well.. :P

A Marvel vs Capcom 4 with MK would be even better.... heh.. one can dream.. I have always wanted that ULTIMATE fighting game that blends all the characters from like 7 different franchises. It will likely never happen... obvious reasons aside... but one can hold onto dreams.. heh

Fighting games have lost a lot relevance though.

Just because you're not into EVO and the arcade scene, doesn't make it irrelevant

The closest thing to that is one of the last fight scenes in the Jackie Chan/Jet Li film, The Forbidden Kingdom. :P

I have been waiting for a MK announcement for the last year lol. I was addicted to MK9 to the point it was all I played and I even entered a couple of local tournaments when the game dropped. I'm looking forward to MK10, day 1 purchase.

Yeah, he mentioned there would be news then didn't he? I love the series and look forward to what can be done on the new consoles.

MK9 was the best one since Ultimate MK 3. They really created something special. The story mode was the best I'd seen in a fighter and the range of characters was great.

Not sure what more they can do with the next one but I'm willing to give them a shot.

I call bs on that one. Mortal Kombat has a good following at EVO. Mortal Kombat was huge in the arcades.

never been much of a mk fan but always a fan of gore. That next-gen gore should look mighty disgusting unless the game ends up as another crappy cross-gen game.

they hate everything but SFIV but the scene is still huge and stronger than ever mostly thanks to TwitchTV (although some party poopers hate the Stream Monsters because of the trolling). They play everything from MK, Injustice, Persona 4 Arena, Marvel 3, SFIV, KOFXIII, Tekken, Dead or Alive 5, BlazBlue, Killer Instinct and even Smash Bros. The only game that went down the crapper was SFxTekken because nobody really asked for it. What everybody wanted was Capcom vs SNK 3 but Capcom never listens.

Smash has similar, if not worse, reception there too and look how much that franchise sells.

SF4 and Marvel have good followings at EVO. Everything else barely scrapes by.

MK was primarily thought of as a sideshow in the arcades around here. It was bad mechanically compared to its peers and was fueled primarily by people outside of the scene who just wandered in because they'd heard about the spectacle violence. Some of those people stuck around and played other games, but most of them disappeared with Mortal Kombat. MK9 improved things but generally just felt fueled by nostalgia. Killer Instinct has probably already hit a higher peak.

The only MK game that was bad mechanically was the first game. I really don't know what you are talking about. You seem to think that your own personal distaste for MK means the entire world doesn't take it seriously. MK definitely has a large hardcore following and is one of the biggest fighting games in the world. The only fighting game that I can think of which has little place at EVO is DoA. I know the fighting game community has little respect for that series, but that's simply not true for MK.

I actually want do see they give another try to MK x DC.

I hated MK vs DCU, but after MK9, and then Injustice, I'd be willing to give it another shot.

A new Mortal Kombat would be nice. If they found a way to make the mechanics as good as SF4, without directly borrowing from it, that would be stellar. Mortal Kombat games usually have piss-poor fighting mechanics, as well as zero semblance of fighter balance. The last entry was a step in the right direction, but the gameplay was still noticeably weaker than SF4, which came out long before.

Hopefully kratos will still be in the game, his combos in MK9 was so badass
