Consoles these days pretty much don't get any non action/traditional style WRPGs, so yea, it's pretty much a no contest now with the rise of crowd funding and all that.

The days of playing Wizardry 5 on your SNES or some Buck Rogers on Sega are long gone sadly.

Is it really that hard to type a complete fucking title? You know, one that makes sense and is written in proper English?

Divinity is likely the best RPG ive seen for a few years, And Wasteland 2? Well Have tryied the prerelease versions, it is solid, although no Divinity. Still solid enough.

Sadly it seems most RPGs these days have forgotten what the games aim to be, why they are called RPGs, little choice and no consequence. Just stats and a linier path. They might be good games, but in generel most have been piss poor RPGs. So the currend trend makes me quite happy :) And whoever brought up Persona 5; I hope that is in the same boat when it comes to JRPGs, so high expectations for that game :D

Of those console games, only Xenoblade Chronicles X interests me even in the slightest. If Persona 5 is even remotely similar to P4 or worse... P3, I will stay the hell away from it. And I have never been big into tales games. Every PC RPG I listed on there interests me on the other hand.

The Witcher 3 Wild hunt is only RPG that matters

Sadly it will miss the best 2 RPGs this gen, one which is WiiU exclusive, the other one being a Sony exclusive.

This one looks promising too. But the development of the game is way too slow. I hope this one turns out to be good

No, F2P MMOs are.

Outside of physics, I dont really see what the appeal of the game is. The physics engine looks great and all and it is clear they take a lot of pride in it, but that is pretty much all and I dont know if the physics will really make the combat better than the current abstract combat form RPGs tend to have. Of course, the game could turn out great, but as of now, I am rather indifferent, this is subject to change of course, all they need to do is announce something to catch my interest.

Divinity Original Sin destroys everything else. Consoles should get a shoddy port later on though.

I agree with TC despite the poorly written title. Wasteland 2 looks like the shizzz... and Divinity is such a breath of fresh air in gaming. Those that hate on it are the same people that haven't played it.

1) Shadowrun: dragonfall was released in February, what's this re-release about?
2) Shadowrun returns appears to be available as well, how does this game fit into the picture?

In terms of AAA games, Dragon Age looks to be the best game released this year. After all the other games only ended up being decent this year, Dragon Age looks like it will take the cake easily. If you watch all developer diaries, interviews, game previews you can tell Bioware is putting a lot into this game, also it seems that EA learned and backed off and actually let them have time to develop it, It's my number 1 anticipated game this year and every video I watch makes me want it even more. Besides that I would say maybe Mario Kart and Smash Brothers are the other big ones of the year that will actually held up.

And next year, already won by the Witcher 3.

I would say including every platform, RPG's are making a comeback in the spot light. Next year is insane for RPG's.

No, I played it, its overrated.

The world is very static, the writing isn't great, the balance is off, and the pacing is poor at the beginning and end. Also not enough companions.

All Divinity has is great soundtrack, art, and combat system.

Dragon Age Inquisition looks promising but it's definitely not the biggest title of the year. 2015 is going to be much better for RPGs--The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles X. You could definitely argue 2015 is RPG year, but when I think of 2014 I pretty much think of Smash Bros.
