Poll Is Blacklist the best third person stealth game on any system? (14 votes)

Aye 57%
Metal Gear The Phantum 24 pain ground 911 Zeros 20 minute demo (other) 71%

Conviction was pretty disappointing. The trailers for Blacklist made it seem like a limp duck action game. Upon playing it on the hardest setting: The reality appeared to be an excellent stealth game rewarding intellectual person (me) gameplay over simply slogging enemies with death. It almost made Ubisoft not a bunch of cunts.

How does the new Metal Gear Solid title stack up?

It is better than Conviction but still not anything special. It is not even as good as Double Agent, let alone Chaos Theory. And lol at Gamespot polls.

Seems like it lost.

I recently played all SC except DA and I found CT to be severely overrated. At the time it may have been a great stealth game but it just falls flat at this day and age. Imho Blacklist is the best SC game. If you disable mark and execute it also has the best stealth mechanics in the series and arguably in every stealth game out there.

btw I beat CT in its hardest difficulty. Link if you dont believe me

I respect your opinion man but I didn't like Blacklist much. Huge improvement over Conviction but IMO still not up there. Storyline was also like average action movie. Original games were a lot more practical and realistic in that department and gameplay was the same too.

Double Agent is trash, easily the worst Splinter Cell game ever made. Blacklist easily soars above DA and is far more comparable to CT.

Double Agent is way better than Conviction. Not as good is CT but still great. Blacklist isn't that good. Again, it's my opinion and I respect yours but story is blacklist was bad compared to first 4 games. The best mission in blacklist is where you dodge number of lasers at the end of the game. That mission was on par with Splinter cell 3 and 4 missions but later it turns out to be a disappointment because you discover that guy you played as wasn't Sam Fisher. That mission really made him look like good old Sam instead of action movie hero but later it turns out that it was black dude.

Its a very good game, underrated.

The level design was far more coherent than Chaos Theory.

But Thief 1-3 is still a better stealth series.

First person. And I'd agree with you on that.

Actually: worth mentioning is the spy in Team Fortress 2. Although this isn't a stealth game: the actual class is done better than full blown stealth games. Powerful yet vulnerable: As opposed to just powerful.

Though I have to say the games co-op and multiplayer was awesome. But I didn't finish the co-op campaign so if you are interested then lets finish it.

People are sadly too stuck on this " chaos theory was better" nonsense and we need to stop having rose tinted glasses when remembering good games from our past.

Also , if any game needs a " definitive edition" it's Blacklist. It came out strong and lost it's thunder because GTA V came out soon after and dominated everyone's console for months.

This ain't gonna work on me. I playing it now(not finished yet) but its much better than blacklist. Heck I didn't even finish the single player in blacklist cause it was so boring. The only thing I liked in BL was the multiplayer.

It's not strictly 3rd person, but Human Revolution was the greatest stealth game imo.

Having bought and now played Metal Gear Solid: The Rising Zero I must say my friends: Black List shits on this. The gameplay is miles better.

People need to understand that the stealth in CT hasn't aged very well. It isn't organic at all, your paying attention more to the darkness and sound meters more then the game screen. It's one of those games where you hope the guards don't turn around while you sneak up on them, alarms trigger instantly if they do. If you did get spotted, the combat was beyond terrible, it was better to reload a save instead.

I played both Ground Zeroes and Blacklist.

Blacklist is cool, but I can't lay down like I can in MGSV, so with that...

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes > Splinter Cell Blacklist

But only in Gameplay, as a Game Blacklist is the better product purely because it's a game.

Blacklist does stealth very, like VERY well for a 3rd person game. Does MGS5:GS do it better or worse? I feel like MGS5:GS is doing its own thing since MGS5: The Phatom Pain will be open world(?)

However I did really enjor Blacklist and wished it had a much better story, though the characters and dialogue feel very TV show to me.

But of course it is!

No other game makes you feel like a special operative the way Blacklist does. In this way it's the best stealth game ever made.

Metal Gear 4 is better. Same goes for the new Metal Gear prologue thing.

Also, I played Chaos Theory a while back and I disagree with people here--it has aged quite well. The shooting is not bad at all. I like that it stresses a plan of a attack.

I stand by it. MGS4 essentially breaks things down into levels, offering the possibility of multiple scenarios. It is very apparent that a lot of thought went into the map layouts.

No you aren't the only one, if you are saying that the game offered less as far as stealth gameplay. While I may like the overall experience of MGS3 better, MGS4 is the far better game. Even though there are hours of cutscenes, it isn't a movie game because the gameplay is still strong. It is cinematic in the same sense as the original Ninja Gaiden.

Well it's just that MGS3 you had to take your time and choose which camo would be best for the situation you were in and if you chose the wrong kind of camo you got caught and you had fight your way out or quickly hide somewhere else.

MGS4 it was all like "LOL just lay down and look like you're dead and the guys won't see you." Camo? Don't worry about that, you're a chameleon.

Granted there were sections in the game that were pretty hard to sneak by with that mechanic (like you said strong gameplay), but it wasn't in the same level as Metal Gear Solid 3's camo system.

Exactly. These arguments are extremely retarded when ppl are still playing these games NOW and finding them better.
