Incredible TLOU Remake Part 1 PC analysis. A technical breakdown that serves to educate as well as disect

Everyone is aware of the issues PC has encounter with this PS5 port to PC, but to simply say, "bad port" is the easy conclusion to make. The port effort did play a part, but it's not the whole story and to assume "more powerful hardware should make it run better" is also ignorant and exposes a lack of technical knowledge.

This analysis not only serves to explain what's happening with this game on PC, but also goes on to explain to why issues are seen and what systems in place are causing it to be as heavy as it is. Few people here have real technical understanding of how coding, hardware differences and development works, this will help to enlighten those who wish to learn.

• *If you have the hardware, PC can scale above the PS5, just don't simply rely on a more powerful GPU
• The game is very data driven and has a heavy reliance on CPU, VRAM and System RAM on PC
• 12GB VRAM cards are still likely worse than PS5 version, 16GB of VRAM will be required to match or exceed native PS5 title performance here and the future.
• To run maxed on PC it's recommended to have 32GB of system RAM and 16GB of VRAM
• 2070 super PC setups can not be able to match PS5 performance or graphics settings

I think the biggest issue with this game is that Sony are remaking a game that has already had a remaster of the original game and selling it at full price.

I don't agree with that as well. For people who never played the game before however, they can't really complain because it's essentially a new experience for them, specifically the PC market, for PS5 however, the game should have launched cheaper $40 max IMO

When you hear from someone who actually knows what they're talking about (NXG is actually a senior advanced engineer) unlike these self proclaimed tech experts here on SW, you'll find that more goes into developing games than simply the Tflops of a GPU.

The game uses 5GB of VRAM at 360p low settings. It's a shit port. Ofcourse the Playstation fanboys over at IGN will defend it. You can break down any bad port like this and explain it away with nonsense like:

IGN is clueless and even defends a shitty port like this reserving a blanket amount of VRAM that scales with your total VRAM.

I never have any programs open during gaming. At most I have steam open.

Well a 2060 Super was comparable on launch titles then you needed a 2070 super and now that isn't cutting it on newer games.
